I don't see HT not bulking Chris up more. Like Ill Jedi said these are just prototypes so i'm expecting a Bulky-er Chris. Hopefully these sell good and they do more.

the thing is hot toys dosn't USUALY let pics get out unless the figure is 90% finished. there are SOME exceptions to this, but most of the time, once the pics are out, WYSIWYG ( What You See Is What You Get).
No, i think this is more or less the finished product.

It appears as though the muscle body is greatly hindering posability...I still want to see actual HT shots...

I agree. But I'm 90% now tha Chris is getting a body swap to a standard Truetype.

Sideshow's The Dead figures aren't good enough Zombies. They don't look like the RE zombies at all.

"They don't look like the RE zombies at all". Didn't know you were such a zombie aficionado. Come on, a zombie is a zombie (outside of specialized/super versions, the ganado, and the rage zombies from 28 Days). Still, zombies are easy enough to make/kitbash that I don't see the point in having a high-end 1/6 company like Hot Toys producing. Their resources could be put to better use, like a Birkin figure or other STARS members (I would take a Rebecca Chambers and Barry Burton over a zombie any day).

I'm no zombie expert but I have seen The Dead figures and I have played every RE game several times and I do know that there is a big style difference there.

The RE zombies have a look of their own. The most iconic zombie in the game is the very first one you encounter in RE1. Still while it would be cool to see HT make some zombies, I'm not sure if I'd pick up any myself since plus I'd want to see a Wesker, Jill, Claire, Barry, Rebecca, Ada, Carlos, Billy, HUNK and a dump load of creatures made first.

meh, I'm in the group of " a zombie is a zombie"
the Resident evil zombies look how they do simply becuase it's how they were rendered. there are only so many ways you can do a desicted walking corpse.
Granted, SOMe of the sideshow "the dead" figures don't work for residetn evil zombies, but MOSt of them do.
My particular favorites are the corporte spokesperson, the security gaurd, Lando ( containmnet unit operator) and the new priest. Trust me, get tehm, pose them with your Resident evil figures, they work fine.

best thing about the sideshow Dead figures? they're relatively cheap.

Okay then I want you to back that statement by providing some sort of evidence illustrating that difference in style. And you can't use RE's signature "super" zombies either or bosses because I've already stated in my previous post that those are exempt from my claims of zombie homogeneity. "Regular" zombies in RE were inspired by the classic Romero zombie. Sideshow's The Dead line of figures were also inspired by the classic Romero zombies. The zombie figures you want, from what I can presume, are from RE1, 2, 3, and possibly Code Veronica, which all share attributes with the classic zombie. What design attributes do the RE zombies possess that distinguishes them from the zombies from Dead Rising or Snyder's Dawn of the Dead or The Walking Dead comics or Romero's own Land of the Dead??

I've been playing RE since the very first game released on PS1 and honestly, after watching ingesting years upon years of movies, games, and general media filled with zombies I really don't care about the perceived differences in style because if there was a difference it'd be marginal at best. The only differences I can tell is between the artists, art styles, and as Lerath666 mentioned rendering variations used for the Resident Evil franchise, and even then those aspects change with every iteration. It doesn't stay the same. In my mind the only memorable "regular" zombie is, like Darth Fatso said, the very first seen in RE1, and it'd be so easy to kitbash that I'd sooner enough just do that than drop inevitably 80$ for an HT version.

This is a screenshot from RE: Darkside Chronicles which depicts a cop zombie from RE2 (click to full image):

You really don't think this Sideshow The Dead zombie can be easily kitbashed into a zombie from RE2?

By extension the same can be done for the zombies with lab coats and blazers in RE1 and the zombies with T-shirts in RE2. You can even do an easy "naked" zombie from RE: Code Veronica. A zombie is a zombie.

I frankly don't care if you see a difference in the style or not. I DO see a difference in style. The Dead figures look nothing like the classic zombies from the RE games in my opinion. You have your opinion and I have mine but since you wanted me to back it up here are some shots.

These look NOTHING like The Dead figures to me. Much more decomposed and dead looking zombies:

No reason to get defensive. You are entitled to your opinion. I'm just not convinced that the RE zombies are distinguished enough from your everyday zombie to require the HT treatment. I'm not solely pushing the argument towards sideshow's The Dead line -- I did mention easy kitbashing as a very appealing and much much cheaper alternative. There are a few online shops that sell zombie sculpts, pre-painted and torn clothes and full zombie kits. I'd provide the names but darnit I can't seem to remember the names at the moment. If someone could that'd be great (one of them is a company set up in Yolo, CA).

You've provided pics of zombies from Re. That's great, but what separates them from the legions of zombies in popular fiction that would give HT cause to make figures? Slightly more rotted flesh isn't much of an incentive, in my opinion.

Yeah i agree. I would love to have one of those 'Crimson head' zombies that chase you really fast. And i like the way the eyes are all gray . Also the clothes are much more aged and weathered. Not only are they dead, but they've been dead for a long time.

And this is HotToys. If they sculpted a zombie, they would go all out. Look at Two-Face! Now imagine if they were actually trying to make it look dead, that would be a level of detail Sideshow can't rival. They might even make a new body, with half the torso missing and a rib cage showing. Removable guts as accessories:lol And the clothes could have real burn marks and bullet holes.
If Hot Toys could deliver that kind of quality I'd probably pay like 120-130 for it:monkey1

I would love it if HT did a 2-pack of one of the infected Marshland tribal guys, and one of the average infected (with the casual clothing). Whatever you want to call them.

The Plagas infected ganado/manjini are something I'd like to see HT attempt because they are more unique. Can you imagine a figure of one from RE4 or RE5 with 2 interchangeable head sculpts? A red eyed sculpt and a plagas tentacle headsculpt would be cool. Another reason why a plagas infected figure would be more appealing than zombies is that HT could load them with unique accessories and weapons.

Maybe for this game(RE5) they don't fit but based on the pics you showed they look on par with them. As a matter of fact a couple of them look really similar to Patient Zero. At least from my POV. The Dead line as a whole a amazing representation of Zombies. Again, IMO there hasn't been a better line of Zombies.

Ok guys!! New scans form toysdaily::D:D
