that's strange that their pics are in a magazine before hot toys website... do they usually do that?

They do that for some releases (Cop Joker is one exception I can think of). Two-Face and the Nostromo Spacesuit figures were shown in a magazine before hitting the website for example.

I don't think that HT will withdraw them, I was trying to make the point that they could if they wanted to and we would be left with nothing at all.
As for the press release pictures, I view these as teasers, just because HT have got pics in magazines doesn't mean that they are ready. They are not even on the website yet anyway, so their is still plenty of time to change things.
Anyways enough of this banter, and lets all have a :grouphug :peace

And to all you folks complaining about the "Debbie Downers"....if it is ok to praise a prototype why is it not ok to bash it? We are criticizing the prototype not the final product. It is ok to criticize Hot Toys...nobody is perfect.

There has been alot of product bashing on here lately, not just on Hot Toys products. It has gotten to the point that threads are being shut down and/or abandoned for new ones, in hopes that the "bashers" will avoid them. I have had my issues with many figures in the past, but in this case, we are not even judging official prototype pics yet. These should be taken for what they are, low quality magazine scans of an item that hasnt even been officially shown yet. I can point to many instances were HT went back to improve the prototype, and in some instances, improve final product images listed on the HT website (Rocky comes to mind.) So everyone, be patient!

It's not the criticism of the product that closes threads.

The problem is when it stops being about the product and people get personal with each other.

True, but many grow tired of the constant complaining, thus resulting in the unfortunate mudslinging.

"Buffing" up Chris wouldn't require a whole new body, just a "skin" over the torso and in reality its the arms and shoulders that are the most blaring. As for the "Debbie Downer" comments the reality is that SSC, HT for sure read these sites to get feedback whether anything changes or not its still fine and dandy to post your thoughts so that they may have a chance to be read. No one will forget how Bespin Han was changed and the quote put up on SSC's site was from these boards and how HT referenced these boards as well in one of their NLs.

The reality is that message boards equate to about 3% of the buying public for any one given product, so if people think that ^^^^^ing and moaning about a piece will really influence a piece coming out they are kidding themselves. What this DOES do is show HT, SSC or whomever what the diehards are saying and gives feedback to either change or leave the same. Even that is a longshot but if they see enough people say to buff up Chris, they just might do it.

Its a discussion board, how boring would it be if every post was "Love it!" or "Hate it!" a dialogue to why is the core of these threads.

Just off-topic, I am willing to wager that on exclusives, message boards account for a heck of alot more than 3%. On the PZ ex, I think the freaks board alone accounted for 50 or so.

As far as complaining goes, there are two sides to every story and collectors like to discuss what they would like to see improved. Some of the complaints on these boards are very legit and the complaints I have read about Chris being too thin are very fair.

You'd think that but you'd be wrong. While the PZ exclusive is just a numbers game and we accounted for 35 by last count, in the grander scheme its not that high. Most exclusives are in the multiple hundreds, even 500 a good portion is for those outside of these boards. PZ was the interesting exception to the rule not the rule itself and that still is 65 that is outside of these boards which is a high majority.

... Fan boards make up a very very small percentage of our overall business, the entirety of which has grown and become extremely busy and much more complicated over the past couple of years. Unfortunately this affects some of the way in which we use our time, but as we outgrow the growing pains, that too will be resolved.

Dusty confirmed it, Master Replicas confirmed it in its hey-day, I haven't seen one online retailer that said that message boards were their meat and potatoes. Thinking about Hot Toys who caters to and specializes in the Asian Markets and I have a feeling that our percentage is smaller than even SSCs.

Its a truth that many of us on these boards don't like to admit but its a truth nevertheless.

The reason I'm dissapointed in this particular series of figures is at least imho they just don't seem to be up to HT's usuall standard. HT usually nails every little detail possible on their products but at least from the pics I've seen these two figures leave a lot to be desired. Again I have no idea if this is the final product (I personally hope not) but if it is I may just have to pass on them especially with the new Joker figure comming out.

So it is as simple as putting another layer of skin over the torso, arms, and shoulders? I doubt that would work when you factor in articulation (the skin will bunch up, etc). If it were that easy the Hellboy figure HT just released would have been buffed up as well. What's more you are not factoring in research and manufacturing. It probably would take less effort if they just designed a new body. I simply don't see that happening for a RE5 figure who does not have as large an audience.

I haven't looked at the threads that closely but from what I have seen the people who are complaining are stating what they think is wrong with the figure. So what is with the "Debbie Downer" labeling?

The point I'm trying to make is that instead of people saying the reason they dont like an item and moving on, they post it over and over again. It gets old and has a tendency to bring the people looking forward to the item down. Its especially bothersome when the company hasnt even released official prototype pics. It seems to have gotten much worse lately. I can point at several specific instances where the world is seemingly falling, and then miraculously, everyone changes their mind once more photos are revealed. I would just like to see more constructive discussion, without the blatant put-downs.

I have a ton of Chris & Sheva pics but I can't post right now :monkey1
