Indian Jones

Who will you send your sculpt to by the way? I actually considered this over Jnix at the time. Haven't seen lots of painted samples. Curious to see how it turns out
I will most likely use Mark Simpson here in the U.K. as he is affordable - and cheap compared to the top painters! Mark is also local to me and very courteous and easy to get along with, I find. So, he is the convenient and economical choice for me.
I have a strong relationship with Mark Simpson and I find him very easy to get along and work with, which is paramount for me with this sort of endeavour, as I mentioned to you yesterday. Mark is one of, if not my favourite painter for Indy. I can only think of 1 other painter I might try in the future for Indy. I recently had Mark paint my new Stian Raiders 1.0 and I think it looks exceptional. Happy to share some photos with you in PM. So, I am going to discuss K with him and plan to use him. He is also doing my Jack Burton repaint and soon, my TOD Indy and then Stian Raiders 2.0.
Ironically, Vince showed me a painted copy of my same head and I thought it looked pretty bad. But raw, the sculpt looks superb to me, and that is what I go by to begin with. Vince actually persuaded me to purchase his new one, but I think that looks considerably worse than his 1.0, and it is more expensive. I purchased mine locally, anyway for less than either version.
I will revisit Jinx later, perhaps but I only really like it painted by Rahmier, thus far. I'm sure Mark will do a good job for my K that will satisfy me, and the good thing is, he is always willing to make any changes that you want and work with you. I will assume that Mark isn't used much by folks in the States due to his location, and so maybe they aren't as exposed to his work. Though, he was one of the most popular choices for folks who purchased Stian's Raiders 2.0 recently. That said, Ram has limited spots, so that could be one reason, if Mark was not their first choice. For me, for Indy, Mark has a refined style but maintains a naturalness and rawness, too, which is probably what I find stands out immediately to me. Whereas, as I have mentioned before, I find 357 to be too clinical and pure with how they paint their faces. I don't feel Mark over or under-paints Indy. He may not do eyes like the top painters, which from seeing photos online, I would describe as being more glassy and spit spot clean and perfect - like a good Hot Toys or other quality mass produced figure, I suppose. But they have soul and look convincing enough for me. I just love how he captures the likeness and essence of Indy and Ford.
I hope that helps.
EDIT: I edited my comment about Mark not painting the best eyes as I do think they are very good and for Ford, I find they really capture his essence. And so, maybe he simply paints them in a different style to some others is what I am seeing.
