I would be more than happy for them to make the Ali Blade actually the son of Snipes' Blade. It may not be canonical, but since when has Disney Marvel given more than two sh- ts about comic book cannon.
I just want respect for those first successful Marvel movies by trying to fit them into the MCU.

I want to be excited for this film since Ali is a great actor with sweet screen presence but I can't help but be put off by them not just canonizing Snipes Blade (though there's nothing stopping us from ignoring the new films and saying that Snipes is Blade in our MCU head canon.) He really *is* the first black Marvel screen hero, you'd think they'd want to be able to claim a more official ownership of that fact. Plus he's only two years older than RDJ and probably in even better shape so why the heck not.

The visuals in the first Blade film were ground breaking for a comic book movie, especially for the late 90s.

Stephen Norrington IIRC did a lot of work for music videos and that opening under ground club fight sequence still holds up today in terms of quality.

What makes me sad is we might never see a Hot Toys version of the first film Blade and Whistler. I really loved the HT Blade 2, but can't lie and say the first version Blade would also be interesting. I'm surprised that none of the knockoff brands like Redman, etc haven't pushed a version out yet.

My fear is the film will be egregiously woke for no reason at all at the sacrifice of the overall story and character development.

Snipes has a hilarious cameo in What We Do In Shadows. That might be the last we see of Snipe's version of Blade.

One option is making a TV show. Just a straight up hard R Marvel show about Blade with Snipes as the lead. I have to admit, Blade Trinity killed the franchise, it was such a bad script. The only real practical story left for Blade in that series would have been a dystopian world where vampires were in the open and had taken over. ( i.e. like Daybreakers) That would fit as a TV series.

I always hated that X-Men got all the praise for starting the resurrection of superhero movies because Blade deserves that honor it literally came out 1 year after Batman & Robin killed the genre so Blade delivered big time! I still vividly remember seeing the Blade trailer in the theater before the movie came out and a black lady sitting behind me saying “Mmm Mmm Child Lord have mercy!” when they showed Blade bare chested lol

Snipes will be in the Blade movie Feige wasn’t born yesterday.

WWDITS was so great for the first season. S2 was darn good too. And then we got S3... At least Matt Berry is still in it.

As for Blade, I don't know. I like Mahersala Ali a lot, but I'm not sure whether he's right for this role. I'd have preferred Old Man Wesley coming back. Maybe give him a daughter or a son to tag along as NuBlade. I don't even know what story they'll do. From castings and the such, especially the calls that sound like MI:13, I think Blade is going to be more of a "generic" monster hunter rather than a Vampire-exclusive one. I just hope they make a solid action horror flick. I wonder if Dracula will be in it. I've said it before, but I want to see the Kain-looking Marvel Dracula myself, beyond the Count look. He'd make for a great figure.

PS: Evan Rachel Wood is still hot. A hypocritical **** to be sure, but I don't mind seeing her in movies...

And won't he have to be doing martial arts? Might aswell have got Snipes back.

I know guys in their mid-60s who still look fit and shredded and can move with power, speed and flexibility. Their fighting days are over but they're more than enough for movie magic. That said I get your point ... they could pretty much cast anyone and use doubles or whatever. Ali is more relevant and contemporary though, which counts for demographics.
