Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I must say, looking forward on how good is the Ecto-1, how blitzway do the four doors (five with back one) operational and if done in an actual scale "look" ....doors framework,hinges,etc,....or just functional with minimal/prototypical detail. Also the inside detail and taking in consideration that 4 figures will have to fit inside...how detail could it really be. If all these things comes as a Grand Slam for Blitzway and the price is still under 1k...it will be a whole new ballgame...pretty sure...well almost certain..that if it is a spectacular realese of the Ecto-1...we will see..finally...the 1966 Batmobile from HT. These four GB figures and the Ecto-1...could be a turning point not only in quality, detail and price...but also...subject matter...and other movies, characters and storylines could be considered as "big profits to" outside the mainstream Star Wars, Marvel,DC regular powerhouse characters.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

The CEO of Hot Toys already said that they are not making the Batmobile...he may be playing coy but I am going to interpret that as there will not be a 66 Batmobile from Hot Toys...sorry...

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I think classic Spielberg would be a good move. ET, Jaws, Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, some decent Indy figures. Aliens, Die Hard, Blade Runner, Gremlins, Godfather, Man with No Name, Conan the Barbarian, Raging Bull, Rambo, Rocky, Army of Darkness, the Thing, and anything Stanley Kubrick or Hitchcock would also be nice, and in that space that HT isn't really touching.

A lot of Spielberg films while great I don't feel like the mass appeal to really sell high end figures would exist. I feel like especially with characters from Jaws and Jurassic Park while there are memorable human characters wouldn't go over well without Jaws or the dinosaurs which obviously aren't likely to happen. With E.T. its kind of the opposite problem because aside from the title character which could be done I don't know how many people would want the kid characters.

Gremlins is a cool property but not sure if sixth scale figures would be necessary and we've already gotten some decent offerings from NECA.

I think there are some good properties you named but not many really scream the need for figures aside from maybe figures from franchises like Die Hard, The Godfather, Rocky, and Rambo. The thing is with some of those though is that they'd just be remakimg older figures in some cases which is fine as some could use updating but overall wouldn't be the most interesting choices.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Well this is the problem Hot Toys ran into. They can obviously make more money focusing on the newest, shiniest object. Your perspective sounds like companies shouldn't go after anything but the blockbuster best sellers like Marvel and Star Wars, but Blitzway can fill the gap left behind by going after characters from great films that will appeal to a modest, but sizable audience. If Tyler Durden can sell, then so can Quint!

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I just think a lot of those properties don't have the major umph needed to sell figures at a high price point like sixth scale figures demand. Its a limited market to begin with and then going with properties that while having name value aren't exactly what you would think of when it comes to figures it kind of sets up for failure on a certain scale.

A property like Ghostbusters makes a lot of sense because its a popular franchise with four characters with unique costumes and accessories. Some of the stuff you mentioned are the men in suits or casual clothing that people tend to complain about.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

What are your suggestions, then, that won't step on HT's toes but will sell? Keeping in mind that Blitzway's other figures so far were Pacino in suits and Durden in casual clothes. When you have highly recognizable and iconic films and characters, fans who are into them are going to be accepting of what they are. Marty McFly for instance, or the Terminator. The typical HT stuff is already out there to appeal to folks who don't want those kinds of characters, and instead want a fancy, shiny armored dude or a Storm Trooper variant. Of course, Ghostbusters is a better choice than most of these others, and they were always at the top of my wish list, but they are a major exception to the rule of great, older films with great characters that also look distinctive, even heroic, and can appeal to those who are into a range of genres--sci-fi, horror, comedy.

Also, a nice 1/6 scale Eliot, ET, and bike are nothing I've seen done before, and I think that would have as much interest as Al Pacino from Carlito's Way, anyway.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Figures in suits or casual clothes can work I agree but not just for any film. I was more referring to the Spielberg films named which I don't think would be as cool on their own without a lot of what gives the films their appeal (the shark and the dinosaurs).

Stuff I'd like to see would be maybe The Dude and Walter from The Big Lebowski, Willy Wonka (the Gene Wilder version), the nineties Turtles (probably never will happen). Honestly its too bad they couldn't get the Tarantino line rather than Star Ace as they could probably do a better job with it.

I would LOVE an Elliot and E.T. with the bike. You could have a version with E.T. In the basket and a regular version for standing. Maybe even a stand that you could raise the bike on as it's levitating. Aw man, now I really want this. Extended neck. Replacement heads with different expressions. Glowing finger. Heartlight. Tears for Elliot. Get on it Blitzway!.....his makeshift satellite/signalling dish....dammit! Checkered shirt and beer can. Flower pot. Make all three kids! How cool would a mini Drew Barrymore be?

Still on the fence for Peter Venkman but I don't have a real spot to put him. He would look out of place in my current set-up. 😕

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

ET and eliott on the bike is a great idea.

After that a lot of whats been mentioned has been done but so long ago it could clearly be revisted (colonial marines and

HT has a lock on the most of the best stuff which is why others like BW have to go where HT wont:
Music is wiiiide open- KISS, the stones, guns n roses, morrison, i would love james brown, metallica. Such an open field with a built in, thriving consumer base.

Sports- baseball is total virgin territory. Same for football. Same for hockey. Again, built in die hard base.

wrestling- same thing.

Major tv (outside of marvel)- i dont see big opportunities. House of cards, homeland are available but i dont see a the consumer interest.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Music and sports minus basketball are pretty unmined territory. But I think the fan base would have to be expanded beyond typical 1/6 collectors. The hot toys mj figures didn't sell extremely well from what I could tell, and at least on this forum interest in basketball figures is muted. Hopefully Storm Toys does well with Hogan, though I'm holding out for an 80s version.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Godfather can really use a re-release and would love to see what Blitzway would do with it. I'd also buy a Michael from that film as well. Taxi Driver, Bladerunner, and quite a few other movies could also be done. I wouldn't mind a revisit 2.0 of Scarface as well. I had the Blitzway and really liked it, but it seemed more of a caricature and the suit was really cheap.

Can't wait to see the car to be honest. Being a big movie vehicles buff i actually prefer the car over the figures although i'll probably get the Soldier Story Egon or Blitzway Ray(as he drives it)to go with the car when they release it just to have at least one figure with it. July can't come quick enough!

Is that all UK retailers or just TOYHQ? I ordered mine with moviefigures.co.uk. July would be awesome but I was resigned to not seeing them here before the winter.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

You'd need to check with your retailer, I'd imagine it would be most retailers.
No more delays that is great news I'm really hyped to get the 4 pack! :panic:

I'd go with Ray to go with the car. After all, he's the one who found it.
