Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I know I pre-ordered this somewhere and I forgot where.... I guess I will get the bill when it arrives in stock.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Put it this way: they'll be released this summer. Whether that be June, July or August remains to be seen. :lol

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I don't care when these are released, meaning June, July, August here in the US. They can take their sweet time. I only care about quality. Having the BW TD, and with their track recored, these are gonna be worth the wait.

SO, although I can't wait, I can wait. I've been waiting 30 years, so what's a few more months. :lol

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I personally prefer quality over time as well. If it means they'll turn out fantastic, take all the time you need.

I have a feeling these will turn out even better than TD since I think this is a bigger license for them, has more of a cult following while at the same time being a bit more mainstream, and are the figures that they probably will be trying to catch people's attention with to put them on the map as a legitimate 1/6 figure purveyor that can rival HT.

I couldn't agree with you more.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Yeah if BW gets these right, it's gonna really put them on the map. I think they have a lot riding on these, with that said, I think they'll be fantastic! I'm sure they're excited about sales, the 3 and 4 packs are literally sold out just about everywhere. Glad I got my 4 pack order in.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

You will get alot of argument about BW actually competing with HT. As far as distribution and sheer number of releases....HT has no competition.....yet.

If BW gets the right, gets a few more licenses being ignored by HT, then maybe they will have a run at HT.

But seems like Molecule 8 might be closer to giving HT a run for their money.....if they follow through on all the promises....

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I think there's more than enough to go round. A couple of high end manufactures is fine with me. So long as the quality is good.

Better for us collectors. More choice !!

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

i think this release could really shoot BW up the ladder. But the question after this is whats next. BW will have to find a niche because HT still has all the best licenses. BW will have to find something off the beaten path- baseball, football, music, wrestling- a place where HT does not compete.

And molecule8 at this stage hasnt released a single figure yet. Plus every time i read that thread it looks like chaos. So im not ready to say theyre even close to any competition to HT.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Any updates on if they'll make a Gozer?

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

So what licenses would be a good bet? Most of the ones I am interested in are at M8 already....and lets face it HT is Disney/Marvel/DC all day!

Too bad BW didnt get BTTF.....

Maybe a Jaws line?

I think classic Spielberg would be a good move. ET, Jaws, Private Ryan, Jurassic Park, some decent Indy figures. Aliens, Die Hard, Blade Runner, Gremlins, Godfather, Man with No Name, Conan the Barbarian, Raging Bull, Rambo, Rocky, Army of Darkness, the Thing, and anything Stanley Kubrick or Hitchcock would also be nice, and in that space that HT isn't really touching.

Mondo has already done Hitchcock and there probably won't be any Eastwood figures until after he's gone

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Mondo doesn't look like their interest goes beyond Hitchcock himself, though, and the jury is out regarding quality even there. That's true about Eastwood, but until recently was also the case for Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, michael.j.fox, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro (thinking of the molecule 8 announcement), and others. If others can change their tune, I'm sure that Eastwood could as well with the proper incentive.

Delivering fantastic GB will surely put them on the radar and perk up antennas, but they'd still be in the passenger's seat to HT. They'd have to do that on a consistent basis with as you said, licenses that HT generally ignores.

A true rival for Hot Toys would be nice if the competition could bring base prices for a figure with a sculpted likeness back near $200. However, the competition would probably be indirect (buying a different character from a different license and a different company) because so many licenses are exclusive to one company. Even when there is competition (Blitzway versus Soldier Story), prices haven't budged. I suppose the economics of competition doesn't apply to the high-end collectibles market.

If there were to be a rival for Hot Toys in quantity and quality, I think I'd prefer it to be another company. I like Blitzway's current pace and the less mainstream licenses they pick up. If Blitzway achieves Hot Toys-level quality without Hot Toys-level quantity, then that's fine by me.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Right now Sideshow and Hot Toys are like if Pepsi and Coca-Cola teamed up.

Even if their products are not the best, the brand recognition is such that they're not going to be topped.

They're too big to fail.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

Blitzway make figures that are as good as the best pieces to ever leave the Hot Toys production line...if you own Carlito or the Durdens then you know what I'm talking about...they have amazing licenses too that appeal to actual film lovers and that differentiates them from Hot Toys which has essentially become an exclusively Super Hero and Star Wars Factory with the occasional Disney character thrown in...Blitzway could almost add the tag line "Sixth Scale Figures for Grown Ups"...unfortunately they will not be able to compete with Hot Toys at the really slow rate that they release figures...look at how many HT has released between Carlito and Durden...if Blitzway could produce figures at the rate that HT does then there may be competition...right now it is not in the cards.

Re: Blitzway - 1/6 Scale Ghostbusters - Collectible Figures and ECTO-1

I think if BW produced faster cost would rise and nobody wants that. Personally HT is becoming irrelevant to me. The figures they are producing now just don't do it for me, and I am-starting to realize that.

Last year I purchased the following.

SS Jason (disappointment)

HT Rey and BB-8 (womderful)
HT Eric Draven (old License but great)
HT Phasma (super cheap purchase, but still amazing)

PHicen King Zombie (big fan of the comic)
BW Tyler Durdan (no explanation needed)
V for Vendetta
VTS Wasteland Ranger

On order:

HT Doc Brown

PHicen Vampirella
vTs Furiosa
BW GB 4 pack
PCS AWIL Kessler wolf

So less than 50% of my purchases went to HT in a years time....and even less than that on preorder.....

Now that will change a bit if HT Jedi Luke and Emperor come up.....but it still will only be 50%. And as soon as they hit those 2 figures....I really see nothing I could want from them....
