already sorted:wink1: it doesn't look as smooth/flat as I thought also.i suppose it's down to the paintwork now to see whether it's sharp and not lifeless.

the same guy has done another video.at about the 40-50 sec mark it does look better in them shots.some nice muscle tone, close up on the head could have been better though.although some twelve o'clock shadow appears to be there

I think I'm sold after seeing this. Certainly looks a lot nicer than what we've been seeing in the crappy pics. I stand by what I said earlier and expect this to look a lot nicer in person, and I still think that the difference in the proto is mainly in the professional photography.

Yes, the proto is still better, but that's expected. Happens with Sideshow pieces too, but professional photography can make something look a lot better than what it really is.

Overall I'm happy enough with what I see to go ahead with my order. I think on display under some nice LED lights and after a bit of futzing of the pants, this will look epic. Certainly looks a lot better than half the junk Sideshow has been putting out lately, and people happily hand over their money for those.

My most recent Sideshow piece was the Alien Big Chap bust, which was such a fail IMO that resembled the quality of a cookie jar, yet people were blowing their loads over it. I didn't even request a replacement for mine...just straight up asked for my money back.

Anyway, I'll be sure to post some proper, high quality pics of this once I have it in hands.

It sounds like I'm dogging the GOD... I don't really mean to, I would love to have it also. I guess I'm taking more of a stab at Blitzway in general. I think the prices on both of these are really steep. They're charging XM/ARH prices for pieces a little closer to SS imo. Just looking at what you get with Death Dealer... sheesh its a beast.

With these I wish there was more Diorama and less base, you'd feel a little better about spending this kind of money. I think maybe the prices are more reflective of the Asian market where you pay some pretty high prices for 1/8 scale figures.

...butttttt I need Bruce Lee in my collection and this one feels like the one to have. I dont think anything better will be along for a good while, and who knows, maybe when its here in front of me it'll change my mind.

You do have to take into account that once you add real clothes then the production complexity, and hence the cost, goes up dramatically.
XM/ARH (and almost all small companies) don't do mixed media and real clothes.
And while both the GoD and EtD statue have very simple clothes, it still means the end to end production is more complicated.

Many people don't care about mixed media (some actually don't like it), but for me its important, I think it really sets statues apart.

Do you often repaint things?

In a word, no.
But I have hand skills and am extremely particular about detail.
I would be confident in repainting (or adding to) the cuts, making them run realistically and fattening up the ones on the abs.
As far as redoing the skin tones I would need to see the statue in hand to work out the best way to approach it and experiment with techniques.
I'd tackle any bad sweat apps too.
For better or worse I'd attempt to 'fine tune' the statue and post images here, successful or not.

But like you I am very on the fence about it. So I may not get the chance to repaint anyway as I'm leaning toward picking up the GOD instead.

When I say the GOD is more accurate, I should say more realistic.
The ETD has a good likeness but it is almost nullified by the toy like characteristics inherited from the lack of skin texture and lifeless paint app.
Of course that is subjective, but we seem to agree on this.
I also think the likeness on the GOD is good, very good considering it is not being helped with the blank expression and dead eyes.
It is being helped however by the texture on the skin.
So yeah, it's the realism of GOD that appeals to me, the tailoring of the costume and a sound likeness.

I like aspects of both statues. I prefer the pose on ETD, and it is more iconic for my tastes. It's just a shame it looks like a blown up Enterbay figure.
The GOD, as a complete package, feels more considered.
IMO.

better likeness, expressiveness and more sculpt less track suit.

I do really like the game of death track suit, its iconic, but if they're charging over $500 for the statue and the $.50 track suit takes up a majority of real estate on the sculpt... :nono The GOD and ETD are being pretty heavily compared to each other but in the ETD's case there is just a lot more for us to scrutinize. If we get it and we find that its a very well done piece, I think it wins.

Ironically, because there is less to scrutinise the GOD comes off as more realistic.
The tracksuit, though simple is very well tailored and it looks like a miniature piece of clothing.
With so much exposed flesh, the ETD lives or dies on the sculpt and that sculpt being supported by a lifelike paint app. This was always going to be the case.
The production process hasn't pulled it off unfortunately.

Largely due to the fabric tracksuit, and aided by a detailed and textured facial sculpt, the GOD is suggestive of a museum level display piece.
The ETD, while unquestionably a very decent statue, feels more like a large scale toy figure.

I still think that the difference in the proto is mainly in the professional photography.

There have been structural changes (to the detriment) to the piece between proto and production also, so it is not just the level of photography and lighting.
Although, agreed, great photography can certainly bring out more detail if it is there.

While I think this will have great presence in person (mainly due to its size), I think there will be no magical revelations in detail. There have been plenty of photos now in varying lighting conditions and the piece largely looks the same in every one - lacking detail and average paint apps, IMO.

Enough with the "jacking off to other statues and getting cum on Bruce" jokes. I'm trying to be serious bro. Now back to Bruce, what's up with the cumtastic sweat application. I hope it's not like this on all of them. Its like they came back from one of those German spermaparties you see in porn, but he was able to get some off.

the way the sweat is showing up in these pics so far is white when the light hits it and invisible when it doesn't. I don't think its gonna look right in pics, probably better in hand.

close up of the HD1002.similar effect but not noticeable in hand.no doubt the close up shot makes it worse on this...I hope.

^best vid so far

as far as the seam goes, I think your face would have to be pretty uncomfortably close to Bruce's pelvic region for it to show up like it does in those last photos.

cuts do look better, but as this has had a body repaint then I would have.
A.the cuts on the back should have been done accurately, should be more 5to5 if looking at a clock,if you follow, and lower on the shoulder blade.
B.could have blended the colour of the seam(which should have been better) and top of the neck to match the facial tone.since a total body repaint was done.
the newest video shows a big difference in the tones of the face compared to the body.
but a lot of work on a $700 to getting it look better.but there is some texture to the face:)

Body repainted and scars redrawn - by Bruce Lo

Thanks for posting good to see some attempt . To reprint and improve this .

Cut between the face and neck horrible! I do not pay $ 700 and then spend more money for editing it! The neck of the statue seems a bit too long!
yup should not need us to fix this . Should have have come near proto . If this was a cheap buy can understand getting repaint.

nice find Shoo good to see review.
