When I asked them a while back if they were getting it in, they said no. I wonder why they changed their minds.

That's the thing Nuri, they always change their minds, maybe too many people were asking them about it and the decided to cave and order it in, because obviously they saw a big demand for it. :dunno

I remember one time they told me they were not getting anymore EB figures when I asked the 1/4 BD terminator because of QC issues. Then when the T2 was released they ordered it in. Now they have both the T2, and BD Terminator, as well as the 1/4 Bruce Lee.

It's what I expected to be honest. I got prices of well over 800 shipped from US retailers when I was trying to get this. With the poor exchange rate, and the fact that they probably didn't order many, means they gotta sell em higher. Most PF's are at a similar price point.

Yes but isn't that because of the shipping cost? The boxes these things come in are huge and cost over $100 USD to get them shipped here if you buy them individually. However, Popculture orders these in bulk so they shouldn't put the whole cost of shipping into the selling price of the item.

Even with the poor exchange rate it is a rip off, it should be between $600 to 700 AUD. Nevertheless, you pay basically the same price if you buy it from the US and get it shipping over here from BBTS. Thus, you might as well buy this domestically.

Although they order in bulk they'd still be paying a hefty shipping bill which they'd need to factor into the cost when selling these individually.

This statue costs $460 USD from Blitzway with 60 USD shipping. That's $673 AUD converted. There's no way Pop can sell these for the price you mentioned and make it worth their while. While I don't like the 800 dollar price, I think it's understandable. If you look at similar priced PF's, like the Dark Knight Batman, it's at a similar price point on Pop Cultcha.

Yeah but they don't pay that so I don't what your point is there man?

Depends on how much they paid for these because they do not have to pay the retail price and shipping price like we do. Anyway I saw another aussie store selling this for $850 so you are probably right in that they have to pay a high shipping cost. Nevertheless, i think the high price tag has more to with them making a profit than anything else. With the exception of buying from Sideshow, one big advantage to buying these items domestically is to avoid the high shipping cost that you get charged when you buy them direct from overseas retailers. If it is going to cost the same price buying locally as it does buying abroad seems a liitle bit pointless buying locally as far as far as cost is concerened.

I'm just giving you an idea what this would cost someone to buy off them direct. I know Pop would get it a little cheaper, but it's not like they're getting them for half price. The Bruce Lee statues were sold at a similar markup (taking into account the Exchange rate at the time).

It's definitely them making a profit, but what I'm saying is if the Exchange rate was closer to what it was before when we were virtually the same with the US, these would be a lot cheaper from Pop. Yeah there would still be the markup because they gotta make money in the end, but there wouldn't be such a big difference in price like there is now.

I think the Aussie store you saw is where I preordered from as I didn't see anyone else selling this.

For me I like to buy locally as I like the peace of mind knowing I can return it to the store if there is a problem. Sideshow is the exception here as they have an excellent returns policy which doesn't cost me a thing, and when the Exchange rate was good they were cheaper than Pop Cultcha.

Oh ok I thought since you were quoting that high exchange price was the reason there would be no way for Pop sell them cheaper than $800. Now I see that was just a separate issue.

I know Pop would get it a little cheaper, but it's not like they're getting them for half price.

Which raises an interesting point, I wonder how much they pay for these (minus shipping).

Yeah especially when they marked up the ETD one from 1k to 1100k. However getting those large 1/3 statues shipped from outside Australia cost hundreds of dollars, so it probably still was cheaper to buy from them than abroad.

I see your point.

This it?

I see it is $828, not the $850 I quoted.

I agree, which is why I said it seemed a "little" bit pointless not but not major buying it for the same price or cheaper from a US seller for this particular piece. Obviously the major reason to buy locally is like you said peace of mind, nevertheless for large statues like the Bruce ones, it is a big advantage.

Oh wow cool.

What are you on about? We are calm. There is no arguing or fighting going on...we're mates...

We sure are.

:1-1:

However, I think maybe my responses to your post might have come across as condescending, hence why lttgtimaatisgdaicfi thought that we were arguing. :dunno

Is this thing scheduled to be released next month?

That's when Pop thinks they are getting it in, but I see no chance of that, since it hasn't even been released in Asia yet. Obviously they don't check on things but just read what is stated to them.

Can't remember when it was delayed to.

Didn't even know there was an announcement but it says on the BBTS not till the 3rd quarter, which I am more inclined to believe. I don't mind the delay, they delayed the GOD statue and it turned out perfect (apart from the paint).

I pre-ordered direct from Blitzway and received an email from them on 3/22 (as did others) that the release date for Rocky is delayed "to the end of Apr. or the beginning of May". Not sure if that still holds true but that was the latest information provided to us.

going by blitzway's release history,i'd say june at the earliest.that would be my guess anyway going by both bruce statues.lets hope all of you getting this are knocked out by it.

Oh ok I thought since you were quoting that high exchange price was the reason there would be no way for Pop sell them cheaper than $800. Now I see that was just a separate issue.

lol nah, but since we don't know the exact price Pop gets them for, knowing what it costs for a regular customer to buy one direct gives us some indication as to what it may cost Pop Cultcha.

Which raises an interesting point, I wonder how much they pay for these (minus shipping).

No idea, but I know that other store you mentioned were selling them for over 900 bucks before they got a wholesale account and then dropped it to 828, which is in line with PC's pricing. Should give you an idea of what it may cost them.

End of the day, while it may seem a rip-off from our point of view, they still need to make profit. They likely aren't selling huge amounts of these, which means the mark-up needs to be higher to make it worthwhile, plus they need to factor in possible returns (which can't be sold back to another customer as new) and what not. I'm not trying to justify their pricing or necessarily agreeing with it, but I do see their point of view and don't necessarily see it as price gouging. If it was 950 I would, but at 800 bucks, given the current exchange rate, it's not too bad.

Yep, that's the one. The guy actually lives and operates locally in my area. Nice bloke, spoke to him on Facebook. Not sure if he is a member here. I actually cancelled my order with him as I needed the cash (just bought a property), and given that Pop Cultcha have now got these in I'm not fussed as I can just get one there once it's released and have the funds. I just pre-ordered 1/3 Ryu from Pop Cultcha as well and needed to cover the deposit. Will try and sell some old pieces to cover the cost of Rocky. These statues have gotten very expensive for us Aussies now, so I need to be very selective on what I purchase and choose wisely. If I can sell something else to cover the cost of a new purchase, it's a win. Either way, I gotta have Rocky...too good to pass up!

Yeah I get ya. Saving cost on postage is a big plus for us, so it's always helpful when a local retailer can sell them a little cheaper, given how much these things cost us.

We sure are.

Haha possibly. I guess I'm just used to chatting to you so I know what you're like and that you didn't mean it that way, so it's not how I took it.

Are you planning to get Rocky as well? Yeah I'm not bothered by the delay either. Will probably be a good thing for me in my current situation lol. Just need a little breathing room.

Ah ok

U make some good points.

Hope you get him then.

Glad you knew where I was coming from, it was just a discussion and nothing else.

Let's just say I am tempted, but I want to see what the final product looks like first.
