To keep myself occupied in the “Collector’s Mode” when there is a down time between HT’s releases, I turn to Blu ray Steelbooks.
My recent purchases of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are great but disappointing as there in no artwork on the inside. Now through my travels in Youtube I know that the “original” releases of these two do contain inside artwork.

Steelbooks are in most part for the collectors. We pay attention to the releases, we might pay a little extra, and we love the case and the art.
This leads me to my question. Should it not be a standard that we are expected to have artwork inside? It feels complete when you make a steelbook purchase open it up to see inside art. On the opposite end if you make a purchase open it to see no art it is a little disappointing.

Sometimes it feels like a HIT or MISS!!

What are your thoughts?

if it doesn't mention it on the outside of the package I wouldn't expect it inside the package.

That's what I like about movie collecting now, there's so many variations of cover art and collectors editions. The fun is in the hunt for the good ones!

My thoughts are ... honestly, I don't get it. Its a fancy DVD box. I don't see the appeal.

I agree. Movie is the same and I saw a steel book in Best Buy a bit ago and I don't see the appeal either.

I didn't do steelbooks or slipcases until recently & now if I'm buying a movie & it comes with either of them I have to have one or the other.

It's a bad habit & one I wish I'd never started but it's soooo hard to kick :(

I like to collect Steelbooks as well. I would have loved for the Best Buy reissues to come with inside artwork especially since the Canadian ones did. Can understand why some people don't see the appeal and wouldn't want to spend the extra $ but I like to get them when they're available. If it's a really good period piece, I'd prefer a digi:yess:

Bo Shrek, you getting one of the Canadian ones for The Hunger Games?

I kind of collect Steelbooks. I only buy them for movies that I really like. Most of them aren't that much more than the special edition Blu Rays anyways so I don't mind spending $10-15 more.

i don't think anybody buys movies they don't like.
i only buy movies i really like.

He means a movie, or movies, he enjoys watching more than another.

I'm the same way. I'd buy a steelbook for Captain America but not for The Adventures of Tintin. I liked both movies but I like Cap more.
