Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

Was the PF Leia's weight that close to Vader/Obi?? I have her on the shelf and I remember she was much lighter...

Maybe we should start an official weight thread. That way we could all be warned before our shelves bust... I'll start it tomorrow because I'm lazy.:D

oops... :D

Got you guys mixed up there... too much of a hurry. But yeah I am super pumped about this PF.

HAHA! No worries D.A. I'm sure there's many other forum members I'd rather not be mistaken for than the mighty Wor-Gar! :chew

I was about to say...I have Hasbro 12" figures that are heavier than that...

When I saw that Leia was listed at 11 lbs on the last page I had to do a double take. If that was the case my detolf shelving would've cracked because I have Leia and Obi PF's on the same glass shelf.

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

Anyone think that the weight has not been updated?

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

A user named Mister_Gosh and some others over on the Rebelscum forums have posted a couple of interesting points that personally make me feel better about SS's choice to go with ABS plastic for the Boba Fett PF. Check it out:

It's probably worth mentioning that Polystone is just polyeurethane with some stone powder additives, so there's nothing particularly more "exotic" about it vs. ABS plastic, porcelain or any other material that you typically see collectibles in.

Per Sideshow's catalog, they go with Polystone because it holds fine details in the sculpt, it is a cold-cast material and because it holds paint well. In the case of Fett, none of these is particularly important to the body under the costume, so dictating the material choice by what would make the best armor makes some sense to me.

Also, an interesting email response directly from SS:

"Thank you for your e-mail to our Customer Service Department. Your feedback is important to us and we appreciate that you took the time to reach us. The Premium format figure body structures range in materials that are used based on the end result that we desire to achieve. Some of the past PF bodies were part polystone and cloth padded appendages with wire joints, some were polystone sections with wire joints, some solid polystone and so on. The Boba Fett body is made of a dense, rigid plastic, but it is formed like the polystone material and is not jointed or sectioned like our 12 inch figure body buck. This material was chosen so that the shrinkage rate would match that of the material used for the armor, since the armor is curved to fit Boba Fett's body. If not, the body plates could have been under or oversized causing an ill fitting look to the armor."

and, a GREAT point made by theropod on RS:

Considering Sideshow's positive track record, I'm more than willing to give them a chance on Boba Fett without passing judgment until I see the final product.

Some of you may not be aware that some of the highest rated PF statues that Sideshow has produced were only wire armatures underneath the fabric garments. Those received great acclaim and in reality, the ABS plastic Boba Fett with a solid cast ABS body will in fact be more tangible inside than those early heralded PFs.

Sideshow is the kind of company that puts a lot of effort in their product manufacturing and level of detail, if they couldn't get the polystone to work on a unique statue like Boba Fett so be it. As it is, it sounds like they spent more money in trial and error to get the best representation rather than arbitrarily picked ABS just to save a few bucks in material costs. I have faith that it will still turn out great, if it doesn't I will be very suprised.

I know it's nothing entirely new regarding the 'great debate', but I think some good points are made.

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

So when if Fett suppose to be here. I know we got an email last week I think but has anyone heard and specific date.

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

It will be a great figure, but not for $325.00 which most people now call a Action Figure.

4000 edition size
worst exclusive ever
plastic
most canceled figure ever

= ebay for under $200.00, hopefully.

These are all great points I'm surprised at how many people still choice to see this as a negative. I guess some just feed off negative energy…

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

They are indeed good points, but anyone who has either the Frankenstein or Vampyre PFs knows just how light they are - granted they don't have the ABS bodies, but the armatures.

Just saying. :monkey3

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

I suppose people are just worried that their piece will end up losing value, like Nasedo up there.

Which is fair enough -- nobody wants to pay SRP for a preorder if the price plummets once the piece hits.

Of course, Indy has made it abundantly clear that the ABS plastic is a better material than polystone plastic in this particular case, so when the piece hits, and everyone sees how good it is, I can't imagine many will be disappointed. Some people might just have a psychological aversion to it, but objectively, this will be exactly the great Fett PF we've all wanted for so long.

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

Is it really a matter of being negative or just personal preference? ;)

No doubt that Fett will be nothing short of stunning visually; but, it remains to be seen, or felt actually, if it feels near the same quality as the previous releases. The good thing is it's not too long now before we all find out. :)

Thank you schooling some of the people on this board. I think that they speak before they think and love to complain about things that don't affect anything or anyone. we need more critical thinking on this board

Re: Fett!!! Fett!!! Fett!!!

Yeah, a Shaak Ti bust would be the ultimate SW bust IMO. From the top of the head to the bottom of the tails, it would be HUGE! :eek

I'd love to see Palpy/Sidious in PF form too along w/ Dooku, Mace, and Jango. Man, there are just so many!
