Marc Forster will be directing Bond 22, to be released on November 7, 2008, from a screeplay by Neil Purvis and Robert Wade (co-writers of the last four Bond films) and Paul Haggis (screenwriter for Casino Royale, Crash, Million Dollar Baby, Flags of our Fathers).

Forster's previous films as director include Stranger Than Fiction, Finding Neverland and Monster's Ball.

Interesting choice--- we'll have to see where this goes... are they still planning a kind of linked trilogy with the Craig movies?

VERY interesting choice. They obviously want to continue going in a new direction with the franchise, which is very brave considering that CR was so successful. I was already interested in this film, but that's just gone up a notch.

After being surprised by how good Casino Royale was, I'm looking forward to the next movie.

I wouldn't mind a little more action either...as long as it doesn't go overboard. I thought that some of the things that happened in CR was big enough that it didn't overshadow the story. If you asked me what MI:III was about, I couldn't tell you. But I do remember lots of stuff blowing up. :D

Same here.... I really really loved CR, and not only because of the action.. but for the crisp story. I can only hope that the next installment is more of that, but still moving the character forward.

And Batty you are so right about MI III.... :lol

I think they got the balance of action/drama just right in CR. Non-stop action is fine for the kiddie movies like Transformers and Spidey 3, but I'd like Bond to take a more mature route.

Or do you like windsurfing around icebergs in a hurricane?

CR was the first Bond movie that i have seen. I did not want to go and watch it but went anyways and let me tell you WOW!!! what an amazing film! i was pumped while they were playing poker thats how good it was!!!! Great movie cant wait for the next one!:rock:rock:rock

But back to my question---- is it true that the producers want to have a trilogy of Bond movies with Craig? The one example that I heard was that in the next movie (POSSIBLE SPOILER) the bad guy was going to be the ex of Bond's love from CR (played as the rumour goes by the Croatian doc from ER who the producers were impressed with when he auditioned for the role of Bond previous to CR). Anyone else hear about this possibility?

cr was a welcome surprise to a franchise that was getting stale. great action. looking forward to the next and daniel craig was also awesome.

Neil, I haven't been keeping up with the Bond news all that much lately, but the last I heard this is supposed to be a direct continuation from Casino Royale.

I just hope they bring John Cleese back. Bond without Q just bugs me. I know they want more serious, but they could have cut back on some of the joking dialogue between the two and put Q in the scene where gets the chip put in his arm.

I had hoped that the next one would be a kind of follow up or direct continuation of CR. But according to the screenwriter:

Haggis, who also polished the Casino Royale script, said that the next film won't be a "direct continuation" of the 21st installment. "I wouldn't describe it as such," he said. "I think it's going to stand on its own although it does follow right on the heels of 'Casino Royale.'"

I really hopes its a continuation of CR...they left it WIDE open for a sequel and if they don't play on that storyline I'll be pissed. I was hoping for Martin Campbell to continue to direct (he directed CR and Goldeneye, my 2 fav bond films), but this new director should be interesting.

I believe that the other two guys did the first draft of Casino Royale, and Haggis did a polish/rewrite. If that's the case with Bond 22, then Purvis and Wade will have more of a say as to the plot and its relation to CR. Haggis will do his work after they have already come up with the basic plot and storyline. So I suppose there is hope regardless of what he has to say at this point.

Any news if the plan is still to have the Croatian doc from ER (can't remember his name) to play the main villain?

I really wish they could coax Connery back and mend fences so that he can play a Bond villain. He was the only good thing about the horrific AVENGERS movie--- and even
