If that was intended for me, then just cos I'm new on these forums, please don't make uninformed assumptions about me.

I meant that the style of the films have always tried to fit into era in which they were made. (The latest Bond films have definitely attempted to root themselves more in the real world - maybe you should go and watch them again)

I personally enjoy each of the Bond films / books on their own merits

Maybe not the movies, but sure as hell the books where he came from.

Now, they did have big villains will evil schemes. The gadgets were more real world. The cars were not a 'million swiss army knives' fused together. He gets the ^^^^ beat out of him to near death plenty of times. He loses the "bond girls" between books because of the kind of person he is.

The books are bad-ass and ruthless.

Sure, we are talking about the movies. There are over 23 of them with many different takes on Bond. From the goofy Roger Moore flicks to the new more real and gritty Daniel Craig. We all have our favorite era. There are fans who have been wanting something more like the books. It does show how versatile the character is.

In the end, it's all Bond.

it wasn't aimed at anybody. why does everybody take offense at everything that is said on these forums? it's just my opinion cuz i hear the same arguments all the time from the younger folk who constantly bash the old movies and embrace the new films as the best thing that ever happened to the big screen. they weren't even there 20+ years ago. i grew up with those old bond films. i liked them then and i like them now. the kids watch them and say they are dated and ridiculous. i don't see em that way.

I enjoyed the script and overall feel of Casino better but thought the direction in Quantum was better so I'm hoping for a mixture of the two for this next one. Great pickup in Morgan.

So true. As long as Bond films are been made, I'm happy! ('Cos I don't know a world without Bond!)

And Craw, I get what you're saying.......for those kids to really enjoy the originals, they need to have seen them first - to see the progression of the Bond franchise.

Wait just a minute...

Your all ok with him falling out of a plane with no chute but not simple gadgets? Gimme a break... Hes a spy not Indiana Jones.

TBH Quantum felt an awful lot like Bourne.

No one here got a little Jason Bourne vibe with how much Bond was running around and the shakey cam?

The original 5 Connery Bonds, the gadgets are all handled realisticly, even the more rediculous ones like Little Nelly, the way its put togeather, the fact it was a real thing, the briefcase in From Russia With Love and the Tracker from Goldeneye are completely legit spy devices. No one wants invisible cars that flip themselves over, just simple things.

And its ^^^^ing Q, hes in like 19 Bond movies, you guys are nuts.

Has Craig even said "Bond, James Bond" yet? There isn't anything corny about that, its a staple of the franchise and a right of getting the role, he doesn't need to say it every film 6 times and follow it up immediately by ordering a martini but for the love of god, make it a little bit James Bond related. Even M doesn't feel right, shes moving around too much.

He said it right at the end of CR.

Yes practically everybody has called QoS "James Bourne". But I think Bourne did the shaky cam a lot better. I could actually get into the action. It was horrible in QoS. Like 3-4 different shots a second. It was all over the place with random shots thrown in. I just gave up with QoS. The whole thing was a major disappointment for me after Casino Royale.

I still have faith in the next one.

You are right about M. She's been way too much in the open.

As good as Casino Royale is, it doesn't even have a place in my top 5
Doctor No, From Russia with love, Goldfinger, On her majesties secret service and The Spy who loved me are better. IMHO

See my post #17.......alot of people think Quantum was bit 'Bourne-ish' (though I have to admit I thought no car chase could beat the one in Bourne Supremecy, but Quantum managed to smash it the way Bond himself would, IMO!).
As for the shakey camera, I thought it still managed to bring intesity to the fight sequences, but they themselves were a bit too frequent. I still enjoyed it very much, as I do all Bond films!

I pretty much have to go with this statement. I've only seen a few Connery Bonds and Craig is just the cat's meow for me as Bond. Can't wait for 23!!!!!!!!

I've seen every Bond film. I've got some I liked, some I didn't. I can appreciate the reasoning for Connery being the favorite as he was more rugged as an opposing force to those who love Moore for being more gentlemanly and suave. I can see where and why people like Dalton and Brosnan...for the life of me I don't understand the Lazenby fans. All that being said, as far as I'm concerned there was no James Bond before Craig. He captures the rugged, macho qualities of Connery while keeping the suave ladies' man feel of Brosnan with the quick quips that made Moore's Bond unique. He has the brutish feel the Dalton had as well as the presence and they could remake every single Bond film with Craig in it and I'd pay to see them all even the horrid ones that were the tailend of Brosnan's tenure.

I'm just upset that Sideshow lost their Bond license before giving us some really good Craig inspired items.
