If Lucas/Ford/Spielberg couldn't even get him out of retirement for a small part in Indy IV, I don't see him starring in a film ever again.

The thing that is odd is I think I read something on MI-6 where he supposedly said he would be interested in coming back to a Bond movie, maybe as Bond's dad. But its hard to tell if he really said that or not, if he did he must not really know or remember Bond's bio since he's an orphan.

yea I agree, I think Connery is pretty much done. Which is a shame, he could have made a couple of cool cameos in movies that would have been great. Oh well, he is like 945 years old. He might break a hip getting to the set.

I think that Lucas and Spielberg would have been willing to bring the set to him. I'm sure they could have put up a green screen in Connery's study and popped him into costume and makeup for a brief cameo appearance in one scene. Even one side of a phone conversation with Indy or something. If he won't even agree to that then he must be pretty serious about his retirement.

Tiny little interview with one of the writers:

Oscar winner Paul Haggis is returning to the Bond series to write the 22nd adventure of Agent 007, starring Daniel Craig with Marc Forster taking the reigns as director. For the time being, the movie is being referred to merely as Bond 22.

During press for his latest film In the Valley of Elah, Haggis mentioned that writing Bond is very rewarding. "Bond is just pure imagination; you just get to have fun. It's escapism and it's fun, but I try to ground him as a human being."

But he does say that his version of James Bond is different than the others. "My Bond is an actual assassin; when he kills someone, he kills them with a knife, they're bloody and he pays a price. He denies that he pays a price, but he does. When he sees a woman who witnesses something horrific, and he sees her taking a shower, he doesn't just go in there and ****** her, like the old Bond would have done. He sits there with her, and she says, 'I can't get this blood from my fingernails.' So he helps her get the blood from her fingernails; that's what he does, that's my Bond. So it's a different guy; it's a guy who's much more like these guys, these heroes (in 'Valley of Elah')."

As for the storyline, Mr. Haggis wasn't giving anything up including any possible shooting or setting locations, however he would say, "It picks up 2 minutes after the last one, and it's going to be fun."

He is sticking with the creation of Bond closer to the vision of author Ian Fleming, he said. "Yeah, I hope so because I really loved his books and his movies. That stuff was really close to his books, and most of them aren't."

One more little bit of news:

Danish actor Jesper Christensen told TV2 (via MI6) that Mr. White, the boss of Le Chiffre in Casino Royale, will return in Bond 22.

(Spoiler ahead!) The actor said that his character would endure 007's interrogation methods at the beginning of the film. So, as Paul Haggis said, the movie literally picks up 2 minutes later.

Here's a little bit of (pre)casting news:

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are looking for a Latina actress in her late twenties, preferably with South American roots.... she must be quite beautiful, able to handle what promises to be a physically demanding role, fluent in English and, last but most certainly not least, a great actress.

So who comes to mind?

(Don't say P!tu...)

Well, I would rather they not film until the strike is over. Give Paul time to polish up the script and give us another great Bond film. I'd rather wait than see a rushed BAD Bond film.
