I've been troubled by the lack of news about this project, but it's finally official:

Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions Ltd and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures have today announced that Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon, The Queen), Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale) will be the screenwriters of the 23rd James Bond adventure.

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in the film, which will be a MGM release of an EON production. "Bond 23" is the latest installment in the longest-running franchise in motion picture history and will be produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. A date for the start of production is yet to be confirmed.

"Peter, Neal and Robert are extraordinarily talented and we're looking forward to working with the three of them," commented Wilson and Broccoli.

Peter Morgan is the award-winning writer of such films as The Last King of Scotland, The Queen and Frost/Nixon, which was based on his play. He has also scripted the upcoming "The Special Relationship" for HBO and Hereafter for DreamWorks. He will turn his attention to "Bond 23" on completion of these duties.

Since 1991, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have collaborated on a diverse range of projects including The Italian Job, Johnny English and the past four Bond films. They recently adapted John Le Carre's The Mission Song and are also working on the upcoming sequel The Brazilian Job.

Peter Morgan is a surprising choice. Some felt that QoS was a little too heavy on action at the expense of dialogue, and imagining a character driven/dialogue heavy piece like The Queen or Frost/Nixon with action scenes and explosions is interesting...

Yea, everything that made Casino Royale gold they seemed to leave out of QoS. Hopefully 23 will bring back some Royale Goodness

I loved Royale and I loved Solace. Craig's Bond can do no wrong IMHO.

Maybe then we can finally get a Craig Bond figure! Or a PF, I don't care which, just something! Anything.

Initially, I was disappointed with Solace, but I bought on Blu-Ray and gave it a second chance.

Upon second viewing, it's just as good as Royale and balances the story well. For as good as Royale was in terms of character and dialogue, it did drag too long, had a plot that was a smidge overcomplicated, and the action was lacking in parts (although the free-running sequence is a work of art). But Solace could've benefitted from a little more story-driven elements.

Hopefully the new film will finally combine the best parts of Royale and Solace.

awesome! will be cool to see Craig finally embrace Bond. QoS was a great transition film. Especially how the

shooting down the barrel scene is shown at the end of film indicating that he has now "become" Bond

Things to put in this film -

Q and Q Branch - Time to bring him back, if you wait longer its not going to help. Whenever and whoever replaces him is not going to be instantly accepted, but lets start getting use to a new guy.

Moneypenny

M in her office

Aston Martin DB5 - no accessories

Bentley with Basics only - Machine guns, bullet proof, oil slicks (no missles or anything too crazy)

A Memorable villain -, QoS's was way too forgettable, Le Chiffre was kinda cool.

looking foward to more bond. QoS wasn't my favorite bond movie but i enjoyed it more when i watched it again the second time. they definately need a Q branch in these movies. just keep the gadgets simple. no invisible cars please.

yes to all!! but I would add - underwater scene.

Q badly needs to come back - John Cleese. If Judi Dench can appear so can he.

Also I'd like the gunbarrell thing back where its supposed to be.

Ehh, Q will lead to crazy gadgets. I'd rather not go down that route again, as I think the Craig Bond is just fine with his various Walther's and his burly man brawn.

I love Craig's Bond. Royale and QoS were both awesome films. Can't wait for this next one.

Oh and Sideshow, when the hell are you going to give us a Craig PF? It is way overdue.

crazy gadgets have been a part of bond for 40 years. it's what seperates bond from every copycat action hero. bring em back. and i wouldn't mind john cleese as Q either.

I'd rather not see Q branch back, I like the more realistic approach the new movies have taken.

I think that the Bond films have always tried to fit in with the world around them for the era in which they have been made, and the current run of films fit in very well as they are.

Bring back Q!

Bond is meant to be over the top......I think Wilson & Broccoli have recently been trying to compete too much with Bourne. The thing is, Bond is so much different to him; Bond's a spy, he should have crazy spy gadgets! I also reckon Craig could get a few good lines in at Q; I miss Brosnan's smart-arse replies!

Now that we've seen the cold start to Bond, now we can see him relax and just have some fun with his job! Let's see some laser watches, road-going gondalas & a DBS with some rockets! :lol

Anything but Q...

The over the top nonsense killed Bond to the pont of the Craig reboot. All that crap belongs in the past and only detracts from the core of the films - Bond.

Just my .02

I agree.

I'm reading Ian Fleming's books and I love the very real and gritty feel of them.

None of the goofy BS.

Which is why I liked CR the most.
