Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

Hmm, upon further research, it seems Bronze's melting point is 1900-1950 F. It seems like a sound investment. :wacky

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

Or an appraisal. I mean yeah, I bought my Grendel bronze for a steal, but I've seen him trade for three times what I paid. So maybe an appraisal for the insurance. I hope!

And I do have original oil paintings, and such in my home which the insurance company simply wanted a list of items, under a certain value, and I'm simply paying for that amount of coverage. So for the sake of argument I simply tell the insurance company that I have $100,000 in personal property in my home, listed of course, and I pay for that coverage. Therefore, since I pay for that coverage, if my home suddenly disappears into a worm hole, the insurance company simply writes me a check for $100,000. That is of course if they cover worm hole disasters.

:D

Not true...see below.

Yep, same with my insurance company.

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

These are astonishing prices for the bowen bronzes you guys are mentioning. I'm sure due mostly to each characters popularity. I feel very fortunate to have been able to secure the Grendel bronze for below original retail, as I could never afford to spend more than $2000 on a statue. Still, very excited for the arrival.

How many of each were created, for the Spiderman and Hulk? Grendel only had 25.

Awesome statue you have Fury!

Bowen made 3 as far as I know at the time:

Hulk Bronze, ES 100, the first 35 or so also included a bronze mini bust of David Banner, made in 1997.

Spiderman Bronze, ES 100, the first 35 or so also included a bronze mini bust of Peter Parker, made in 1997.

Captain America Bronze, ES 100, the first 60 or so also included a bronze mini bust of Steve Rogers, made in 1999.

I do not know if this true, but I have been told that the Cap America bronze, even though it has the same ES as the other three, is the hardest to find with a bust, and can go up ward to $15 000 to $20 000. Again, I do not know if this is true, I have personally never seen one sold at those prices. Actually I have never seen one sold period.

if you truely like it i don't see a problem with that. of course as long as the kids have clothes and food to eat i don't have a problem with other people spending it either..:D

Well said Quad.

Absolutely beautiful, Batman29. I can't even imagine how you must feel getting a hold of this. This is a truly a grail if there ever was one, IMO.

Congratulations. What does the box look like on these just out of curiosity? I've never seen one.

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

Amazing Greg, Now you need the Hulk..:rock

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

The Hulk one BTW is exactly like the cover of an old tales to astonish issue and is one of my favorite sculpture ever.

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

That is simply amazing. I didn't even think I would want another after the Grendel, but your photos make me want to add Spidey. I'm sure he was outrageously expensive. Mind if I ask how much? Also, where did you locate him? And what's the story behind getting your hands on him? Oh yeah, and one more thing. Did you get the minibust with this one?

Great looking Spidey! :D

unbeleivable statue!!!congrats man!!!!

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

is the paint peeling on the base?

There is no paint on these bronze pieces, so what you are seeing is most likely the natural pattern in the marble base. All of the color on the bronze is anodized to approximate the normal color being represented. That is if the Spidey and others are like my Grendel, and they have a true marble base, which I'm almost certain that they do. Or did you see another issue there?

This truly is a piece of art.

Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk

DUDE, talk about a HIGH END piece.

this is a TRUE collectors item. The type of thing we'll see on antique road show 20 years from now.

Congratulations on pulling the trigger and picking up on of the most coveted superhero statues ever made.

Thanks Chapter. It is a dual type feeling, paying so much and receiving so much, lol. I wrote a mini-review on it in another forum, and overall, I am extremely pleased with the piece I got.

Here are pics of the box. If you enlarge, on the top edge you will see written in pen, very small, the ES and Edition number. I also included the certificate and what the back of the base looks like (there is actually two bases, the bronze base, and the marble base which is attached to it).
