Re: Bowen Real Bronze Spiderman / Hulk
Thanks Shai, and yes, I have been trying to get a hold of the hulk, mint in box. I missed out on the one in September on ebay, it was the price I was willing to pay for mint in box with no bust. But I did not have the funds then to make the move.
Thanks Fury. Grendal is also an amazing piece from what I hear. If you have not posted pics, would love to see some if you get a chance to do so.
I bought it from Best Comics International, who gave me awesome service and was very quick in the service too. This arrived to me triple boxed, which Tommy, the owner, did on his own accord. Spidey was packed in original box, then this box in another with a couple of inches of styro chips, then this box in yet another with more chips. Really cannot say enough good things about the service I got from this store on this item. No, did not get the mini bust, that would have cost a lot more. I don't think I would be interested in it at this time.
Thanks for explaining this Fury, and yes you are correct in everything you said. The second base on this Spidey is granite, so every piece will have a different base, they will be unique obviously because of the characteristics of the stone. In this granite piece, what you see in the pics are veins, no scratches or chips, unless you look at the bottom of the base, where the granite is not finished and this is normal for granite. The process through which the bronze is colored also makes this unique, and is why there can be such a variation from piece to piece. I am with you, it is a work of art.
Thanks ecekat!
Thanks Bezzerkerr!
The Hulk one BTW is exactly like the cover of an old tales to astonish issue and is one of my favorite sculpture ever.

That is simply amazing. I didn't even think I would want another after the Grendel, but your photos make me want to add Spidey. I'm sure he was outrageously expensive. Mind if I ask how much? Also, where did you locate him? And what's the story behind getting your hands on him? Oh yeah, and one more thing. Did you get the minibust with this one?
Great looking Spidey!

There is no paint on these bronze pieces, so what you are seeing is most likely the natural pattern in the marble base. All of the color on the bronze is anodized to approximate the normal color being represented. That is if the Spidey and others are like my Grendel, and they have a true marble base, which I'm almost certain that they do. Or did you see another issue there?
This truly is a piece of art.

DUDE, talk about a HIGH END piece.
this is a TRUE collectors item. The type of thing we'll see on antique road show 20 years from now.
Congratulations on pulling the trigger and picking up on of the most coveted superhero statues ever made.
Thanks Bezzerkerr!
