Also, the bottom line is that I'm sure, if you ain't a dick then if you posted that you were seriously wanting one and offered to pay a 'little something' extra to smooth the deal then one of your fellow freaks who had ordered one to sell would let you have it.

BTW - as a UK Freak I can quite honestly say that whilst it is annoying that the newsletter arrives at 3.00am I understand why and if there was anything that I really wanted and missed out on then I'm sure a fellow freak would help me out.

Yeah I'm sure, I've gotten help in the past, But if it was a Grey Hulk with an edition size of let's say 50 I don't think anyone who got it and didn't want it would sell it to anyone for the original price...

I've really enjoyed reading this thread.

To me, there is a difference between scalping and buying an item you truly enjoy, which you sell years later (due to change in your focus or getting out of the hobby).

It all comes down to intent.

And if I had to choose between being a whiner or a scalper, I would go with the former

I probably will not be selling it.
If I do sell it however, that is my choice.
If I sell it for one cent or for one million cents (do the math), that is my choice.
If I leave it in the centre of my SW collection and proudly say that it is only one of one hundred--- well, you get it, that's my choice.
I hope the other 99 go to big fans, like me, and if a flipper von fantastic has one then here's the way to eradicate flipping-- no one offer to pay over the $199.00 original price tag.
But we all know that that won't happen.

I think your above comment was ridiculous. Pixletwin doesn't owe anybody anything. Should a fellow true collector give PIX what he paid for his Jabba so he doesn't lose money? None of you "true collectors" would dream of doing that, so why should he worry about driving up the price of an item you want. Besides he isn't driving the price up anyway, the "true collectors" are. They are the ones who pay the insane prices because they can't stand not having everything they want.

If a "true collector" keeps an item for, say 2yrs, and then decides to (or has to, cause needs $$) sell the piece, he's going to sell it for going market value. Its just a time delayed flip, but that "true collector" is still a flipper if he doesnt sell it for what he paid for it. Doesnt matter how much time has passed.

Yeah, I have always wondered why its ok to sell "later" but not right away... there really is no difference. I have bought and sold so much over the years that I can't even keep track. Everyones collection evolves so unless somebody gives away every single thing they want to get rid of then we are all flippers.

I think I ordered it because it is limited, and now the thrill of it has worn off.
Do I cancel and let some other schmo get it or buy it and flip. I would have to
flip it for more than 400.00 because of shipping and duties to Canada.
I have never flipped before and feel a bit guilty for even considering it.

first come first serve has always been sideshow's policy with very very low es items. on another note, isn't faux or fake bronze simply painted? for all the collector knows, these could be 100 factory paint mess ups that someone decided to sell as faux bronze to be able to move them.

i think flippers purchase a very low es item with the intention of selling it. this keeps the collector that wants the item from being able to buy it direct and allows the 'flipper' to resell at an inflated price. a bit different than reselling the item because your tastes change. but our entire society is based on buying low and selling high so no one should gripe. there's always communist china and former communist russia but even communist countries have caught the 'capitalism' bug.

Except for the fact that these aren't in stock and are being produced as we speak.

The faux bronze is a real nice finish, it truly brings out the intricacies of the sculpt. I would be very much inclined to keep this if it were from the OT --- say Luke vs. Vader, I couldn't part with it if that were the case.
