Not sure if this has already been posted, but was just checking out Ask Sideshow and came across this:

I love the Star Wars Premium Format Figures, and have almost all of them! I am wondering if in 2013 we can get a Snowtrooper, Lando, Chewbacca, or the droids we have been looking for?

I know we all pretty much agree anyway that the upcoming release will be for 1:4, but this would seem to offer confirmation from Sideshow themselves.

Lando would be the easiest to produce, yet the least to make money with. Snowtrooper would be awesome!

Hey thanks man. I paid to stand in line like everybody else but I noticed he was selective in who he opened up to, kind of reminded me of the soup nazi. The two guys in front of me kept leaning on his elevated table (so he could stand) and he repeatedly asked them to back off. He signed their stuff without any additional chit chat.

When I got to Daniels he saw that I had picked a Tatooine picture for him to sign and he smiled and said that that was actually the first day of shooting in Tunisia and he described the direction George gave him that day.

I told him it was cool to meet him and hear the same voice I'd been so accustomed to from the movies my whole life and he kind of blushed (for lack of a better word) and said, "Such a desolate place this is."

I told him my name and he reached across to shake my hand and said "nice to meet you I'm Anthony." I turned and left and seriously almost got choked up! I know its a sappy story but whenever SW is on and 3PO says the "desolate place" line I'm instantly reminded of when he personally delivered it to me! Too cool.

This weathered stuff that they pull on alot of their stuff is crap in my opinion. Its just sad to think, that you can't put out a product exactly as it's supposed to be, and have to consider it "weathered" or "combat" version because somebody pooped up.

With the current trend of rising prices on all their figures, and the overpriced LSF, these will seem like a bargain.
Even the Emperor in Throne cost 500 bucks.

As long as they're under 1000, I'm game.

Hell yes this is cool. 1/6 fans can go home and pose thier other dolls. 1/4 is the only way to go.

No offence to 1/6 collectors but I have been waiting for this for years.

Agreed. I'll never understand the whole 1/6 thing. I just see them as oversized action figures, that have joints, and can tip over and fall easily, and break easily with small plastic parts. I love the heavy feel, size and scope of a real statue.

I also hope Sideshow doesn't go crazy and start making jointed and articulated 1/4 scale figures, that aren't even polystone anymore.
That would suck. Leave that to Enterbay and Hot Toys.

Not interested in quarter scale for the most part and not interested in debating or arguing about which is 'better' -- who cares? They both have their advantages and it boils down to personal tastes.

That said, I could see the appeal in getting in a few standalone 1:4 releases, like the droids and Han in Carbonite. I do like that R2 and 3PO are articulated though I'll have to see how the weathering looks. For the most part, I tend not to like it. Think the 1:6 clones with weathering tend to look overdone. While this would be a higher level of quality, I'm still skeptical.

Lando is the only one they never announced as planned or in development as far as I know, so that means Chewie could be here with the droids!?!?



...and don't forget the Snowtroooper!

2012 is going to be an expensive year!

I think the pieces they mean are Lando, the Droids and the snowtrooper. I think they want to avoid Chewie before they know how to make the "real" fur.

And about the base. I hope it will be a tantive IV or Death Star base. Not a type of ground that would show footprints. Because if you could take out R2's 3th leg there should be a place on the base that has the print in it.

I'm jealous. I became a real fan of Anthony Daniels after seeing the '78 Lord of the Rings. Legolas was my favorite character (after Frodo) and it would be great to make a connection with the guy responsible for two such important pieces of my childhood. Congrats.

Looking at the base, the front edge looks more like the deck plating on the floor of the Falcon. I wouldn't mind that, it gives you the opportunity to keep them weathered but still have a starship base.

Yea, I was talking about the preview but you are right there is not definitive date. Although it would be ____ to tie that to the May 4th celebration and not show anything this week, even a preview.

Hoping they're waiting until the newsletter comes out today to preview some cool stuff. Would be nice if there's some sort of 1:6 surprise to go along with info on 1:4 R2 and 3PO.
