You can get a flex on a converted order. This is how:
After it converts, go to cancel it. Every time you try to cancel a full order you will get a pop-up with the option to switch to flex instead of canceling.

Unless the item is sold out. I tried to switch my Batman to flex pay but couldnt. I contacted SS to find out why and they stated it was because the item was sold out.

Hold out hope. There is a long way until January (or whenever it's delayed to) and a lot of people probably won't have the cash or decide they want other things. I myself waitlisted at 20:29:23, which was right after I got home

I don't intend on buying this, but the 'worn' look of the regular version is much more appealing to me. I like the details that are involved to make metal look used.

Probably so. I'm not knowledgable enough in the makings of such things.

But I know what I would put my money on. For example, if I had a choice of a clean or worn/used ED-209, I'd go for the latter.
