Most people would be confused, no doubt. I will be serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I be leaving in a few months for it. I will be gone for two years. It's something that I have been preparing to do for a while now. I am utmostly happy about my decision to go and serve my fellow man, and do things for the benefit of others.

Well, I do not have to sell anything of mine to do this. All I have to do, is put my life on hold pretty much for two years and go serve my fellow man. It will mean I won't be doing anything like I would be here such as watch TV, watch movies, collect, hang out with friends, dating, etc. So none of that. But that is okay, because I can put all that on hold and go serve my Lord, my God. And to be perfectly honest, there is nothing I would rather do at this point in my life.

And this being about religion, I hope nobody is offended by anything I may say.

Actually, that's one of the things that missionaries are specifically counseled not to do. Their purpose in being away for two years is to serve, and spending time chatting with friends "back home" is way too distracting.

I learned recently that the number one distraction today for LDS missionaries (and consequently the number one cause of them being sent home early) is spending too much time emailing, instant messaging and texting the friends they left behind. We all know how addictive it can be.

Tyler, congratulations on your call! I know these things sometimes sound trite, but it really will be the best two years of your life. And you will come to love the people of Vancouver in a way that will stay with you forever.

Seriously I want to make a lot of money and retire early on a beach in Costa Rica and have every one just leave me the F$#k alone. I will surf every morning and never do anything I don't want to do....that is heaven.

Everyone keeps saying call. Were you on a waitlist of sorts to do this type of work?
