yep that's what happened to me, and i told them that i wanted it back and would pay something for it (within reason) and still never saw it again.
i believe they said it had been disposed of, some ahole somewhere (who works for them) now has my statue i'm sure.

been in this situation from a seller stand point, the seller is supposed to get the item back if the buyer is getting a refund.

Amazing how sideshow can think that their packaging for the Cap PF heads were adequate. It's just a cut out in the styro and you drop the head in, free to roll around and put pressure on those fragile wings. Couldnt they have made a form fitting mold to place the head with adequate room for the wings to remain untouched?

Or they could have made the wings removable for shipping. Also, if they did break, they would be easily replaceable. Now the whole head is ruined because of these small wings.

many talent artists on this board can fix that in 5 minutes :)

If you file a claim, then I believe UPS wants the whole package back. Theyll schedule a UPS driver to come by and pick up the box for inspection.

I was under the impression that IF you get reimbursed through shipping insurance that they would take the statue away from you as well?

They take whatever you claim away from you. A board member (or ex-board member?) Jase sold me a DCD 13" Original Superman/Clark Kent that arrived with a huge paintrub in the nose. He contacted UPS and they required a pick up of the figure to resolve the issue.

Something as rare as a Marvel sample, I'd go for getting it repaired rather than trying to deal with insurance. But that's just me.

At this point anything I receive in hand I'd rather work out a compromise with the seller then send it back. In the example above it was picked up and I never heard from Jase again, the communication just stopped, so I was out the figure and the $113 bucks. Once I get something in hand it stays here after that...

That's where I'm at with this. Fed Ex wants to pick up the package for inspection and send it back to the seller. While there is no lack of trust with the seller, I just don't like that idea since the individual will basically be getting the statue back and possible reimbursement for the insured amount. Why me :banghead

Screw that! I'd figure out a way to get it fixed. I wouldn't think it'd be too much for the wings.

I'd keep the Marvel sample, buy a new ex mint one, put the 2 new heads on the sample one and then I would sell the other Cap with damaged heads for a bit less, but I'm sure someone with a little customizer talents would want it anyway.. ..Then you'll have a mint Ex Cap Sample.

That's EXACTLY what I'd do. :lecture

yeah that's it man, just pull the old switch-a-roo and resell him, yeah, yeah that's it.

of course you'd have to take a hit on the selling price of the one with damaged wingeys, also you'd have to pay more shipping costs.

so then yeah maybe it's not the way to go. :huh:bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce:bounce

I'd rather take the hit of $100 - $200 and have a mint Captain than have one that's been repaired. The heads are identical and they came off of the same assembly line. I'd sell the other Ex. with the note to buyers that the wings are broke. I would NOT attempt to repair it. That's IF one were committed to keeping the Marvel Sample. Personally, I'm not "drawn" to samples or APs, so if I owned it, I'd return it and get my refund and reinvest the money into another mint Ex. Again, that's just my opinion.

well put.

Mint Marvel Sample Ex Cap America PF = Awesome IMO.

This is money well spent to make him mint.

What's a Marvel Sample again?

Is it what it sounds like, a statue that goes to Marvel for final approval, or something similar?

And if they are, how do they get out into the market?

Thanks

that's sounds about right from what I've been told. I got it from b24karrot who has been an absolute wonderful person to deal with thus far.

All the Marvel Samples where coming from Jbinny here at one point. He was dealing with a guy taking his stuff directly from Marvel's office or something like that.
