According to "That Hashtag Show," the guys who gave us the info about the "Iron Fist" character descriptions for the Netflix series, or the Vision spoiler in "Civil War," "Civil War" will have two major funerals that take place in both the beginning, and the end of the movie. The first scene that opens up the movie takes place at Peggy Carter's funeral. We knew this much already as there were several set photos that captured the production of the scene. This sequence will also be where Steve Rogers and Sharon Carter catch up on stuff, and will also help to expand their romantic relationship that will be featured in the movie.
Now, the other funeral, is something I'm sure a lot of you have predicted would happen. Steve Rogers will kick the bucket at the end of "Civil War." According to "That Hashtag Show," Steve will make a deal with the government to spare the lives of his allies who followed him, and once he surrenders himself, he's killed. This follows almost exactly how events played out in Ed Brubaker's "The Death of Captain America" arc, where Steve Rogers was assassinated by Crossbones (who will also be in the movie). This is also the storyline that helped inevitably make Bucky Barnes Captain America for a short period of time, which will also play into the movie.
There was a scene shot for "Civil War" that involved three actors taking on the mantle as Captain America. Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, and Emily VanCamp. Now, both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes have already worn the stars and stripes and carried the shield, but never has Sharon Carter. You'd assume that the most obvious choice for the next Captain America would be either Wilson or Barnes, but I could see Marvel throwing everyone for a loop and making Carter the new Captain America. It'd be a smart way to generate some buzz for any future films involving her, and she'd be the first major live-action gender-swapped superhero ever.
