Get Namor, Reed Richards, and Dr. Doom, Prof X. and and Magneto converted to Marvel and you have a good Illuminati movie.

Well, Namor is already at Marvel, there's just a mix up, kinda like the Hulk. If the rumours turn out to be true and the FF get back to Marvel, you've also got Richards and Doom. Xavier I don't see returning anytime soon. Still, an Illuminati movie would awesometacular, depending on the version. T'Challa turned down their first invitation, and Doom was never a member, but I imagine it would work as a prelude to a Secret Wars Movie, a couple more years down the line.

Yup...the x-men are like a piped ream but then again I don't want the movies to get over saturated with super abilities like the comics can be I actually like where the mcu is at right now.

But I just mentioned Doom because he's villain material. And he and T'Challa have some great encounters.

"Great" depends on your POV. Most Panther fans downright hate Doomwar, while some tolerate it. Most Doom fans love Doomwar, while others are indifferent towards it. Me, being a big fan of both, am somewhere in the middle. Apart from that, Doom's wildly OOC appearance in Hudlin's run and a few other cameo-like appearances in the Priest run, I don't remember any other significant interactions. Still, an Atlantis/Wakanda War would be more interesting IMO. Latveria was an underdeveloped nation before Doom took over, while Wakanda was always the crown jewel of the Surface, much like Atlantis is for the Deep.

Pitting Wakanda vs Latveria would be kinda one sided, considering they've got a full-blown God backing them up. Then again, Doom is Doom, and with Prep Doom is everything Batman is "supposed" to be according to the Bat-Boys, so anything's possible. Still, I'd prefer a Wakanda/Atlantis War if I'm being honest. There are more themes to be explored there.

I don't think I enjoyed Doomwar either. I like Doom a lot but I remember Panther and doom having more if a stalemight when they encountered each other like during Civil War. I know T'Challa beat Doom but I think destroyed vibranium to do it, so I often remember each of them pushing each other to the limits at times.

I think has been a while since I read much of it.

Why is doom dressed in all white now? Any particular reason?

Last weekend, Civil War's opening weekend actuals came in just a bit below estimates, but it was still more than enough for the film to score the fifth largest opening of all-time. Since then it has played in such a way that we're looking at a 55-58% drop this weekend, putting it in the position for a $75-80 million weekend. If it trends toward the lower end of that forecast it will be in a battle with Avatar and The Dark Knight for fifth and sixth position on the chart of highest grossing second weekends.

However, if it can top $77.7 million it just might hit the $300 million mark after just ten days, as well as serve as enough to improve on Avengers: Age of Ultron's second weekend last year.

Moving to second we have a repeat of last weekend with Disney dominating the top two spots as The Jungle Book should maintain enough audience interest to best all newcomers. The film dropped just 44% last weekend and could have kept a few folks from seeing Civil War, a theory that could both contribute to a larger second weekend for Civil War. It could also deliver a steeper drop for The Jungle Book than we're forecasting, but don't count on that half of this theory to come true.

It did surprise me that the movie didn't reach $200 million over the weekend. Even the 3D showings were selling out at my local theaters so I thought it would hit that magic mark for sure. Just checked Fandango and plenty of seats have been reserved for Friday night already.

Marvel/Disney tried hard with the additional premium (Liemax) theaters but whatever, the movie will still go over the magic B.

When did you start hating on AoS? :lol you were like one of the three people who liked it.

I really did enjoy it, I was so looking forward to his reintroduction into the MCU in AOU but they dropped the ball big time, so really post AOU I was done with the show.

Thing is, Black Panther has a a more powerful country, thus he's going to win a war 7/10, but Doom himself is much smarter and powerful. Whever I think of their interactions though, the first thing that comes to mind is (sadly) Hudlin's awful representation of him. There, Hudlin portrayed Doom as a common, racist, "white man", European King, disregarding everything about his past, much like Waid in Unthinkable. But, what I "love" about that (quite bad) interaction is this:

DoomvsBlackPanther04.jpg

Black Panther's all "You designed that when you were 15? *****, I did that when I was 12..." and acts like it's some big, bad-ass "line" when in reality, it's damn hilarious. Doom, a Romani living in caravans with no teachers, a mother or a father, built such a suit with no instructions, help or anything really, at 15. Meanwhile, the Prince of the most advanced nation on Earth, with the best of the best teachers, with all the resources he needed, with all the classes he could get, built that at... 12.

It ain't much of an accomplishement is what I'm saying. Hudlin tried to write a "stupid", racist, caricature of Doom, but it back-fired to his face, so I guess that's a plus for me. It's why I rate Parker as a super-smart character, really. The dude built traces, web-fluid, etc, etc, with stuff from the trash and thrift shops. All the other "super-genius" characters had money, time and resources, whereas Parker had nothing. Just food for thought

Anyway, I'd much prefer Namor to be the Antagonist to a 2nd BP movie, with Killmonger organizing a coup in the 3rd one after the War turns out badly. It's just that seeing the best the Surface has to offer, go against the best the Deep has to offer, would be damn great to watch on screen.

Well, that's tricky one. After the Human Torch "died" in Hickman's F4, Marvel launched (the brilliant) Future Foundation. Doom had suffered brain damage at the hands of the Intelligencia, so Valeria (his god-daughter) promised to help him if he joined the FF. Hence, his first white costume, as seen here:

The second white costume (the one in my sig), is his "God Emperor" look, from when he killed the Beyonders and became God. Not "a" God, "THE" God/TOAA/God-God. He salvaged all he could with the power he had, and created Battleworld. Here:

Currently, Doom is walking around in a suit, with his face all healed and all, guest-starring in Invincible Iron Man, being without a throne, and trying to be a good guy. After re-starting the Omniverse Pre-Incursions, Reed fixed his face, and Doom finally let go of his grudge. Here:

I tried reading Invincible because I love Doom and Tony, but after 5 issues in, the Bendis effect was too strong, so I checked out. Solicits say he'll also be appearing in International Iron Man, though we're 2 issues in and he still hasn't showed up. Not that's any better written, truth be told.

How Zemo could've looked in CW (from the art book):

That's actually the perfect blend of the modern costume and his New Thunderbolts one. If he returns wearing that, oh boy, I'm gonna be a happy fan!

PS: Baron Zemo, as Citizen V, might be appearing in the new Thunderbolts series. It's an... acquired taste, but if you want a trip back to the good part of the 90s, give it a shot. When it was announced I hated it more than the Red-Bolts version, but upon reading the 1st issue digitally, I loved it and will probably be adding it to my pull list.

Maybe he gets a brand on his face like the one Klaue got on his neck ha

Well, both he and daddy got their faces ****ed up in the comics, so the source material is there. Honestly, an all black uniform with a coat-tail like the one above, plus a fur collar and a purple balaclava will do. Hell, the above concept art is the perfect Zemo costume. The only thing missing is the golden "crown", and that always looked dumb, much like his polka-dot, shoulder-fur. I mean, I want the crown in the comics, but not in live action.

What's the "Bendis effect?" I've recently gotten back into comics after a long hiatus but have been enjoying Invincible Iron Man for the most part. I enjoyed the first story arc, this pre-cw2 stuff is eh... interesting enough for me to read but not in love with it.

It's basically Bendis writting every character the same way. There's no individuality, it's just a bunch of folks speaking with the same quips, tone, voice, being laid back and charming, repeating the same stuff over and over, and in general making his books a chore. He's good in street level books (Daredevil, Ultimate Spider-Man, Alias), but his Avengers or Cosmic stuff, range from bad to dreadful. His GotG was (and still is) one of the most dissapointing reads ever.

Hell, he retconned the Venom symbiote into being a "Klyntar" and a "Protector of the Cosmos", with Flash-Venom now being a Space-Protector. Hell, that Venom Arc took him 3 months to finish, and all issues were the symbiote jumping from person to person inside the ship, with the "Venom Planter" appearing for 5 pages or so in the final issue of the arc. I mean, try to imagine it. About 60 pages of the symbiote just jumping from person to person...inside their ship...

I'd say if anything, I'm not really enjoying the pacing. As far as the character individuality? I'm really enjoying his Tony Stark because it reads like RDJ. But now that you mention it, hmm.. yeah I can kind of see what you're saying. Shouldn't have asked. Now I'll be consciously thinking about it while reading :lol
