Cap has the strength and Stamina...Bats has more brains.....That is really a tough one...Cap has a Superman mentality too while Batman can be a rule breaker...hmmm...interesting....never thought of this one before...It's a really good to me more legit question than that H vs S one...

I put this in the Marvel section to avoid the DC bias. :lol

Cap v Batman was one that I would always argue with my friends about way back when.... I'd say Cap's shield gives him the edge. :lecture

Bats brains would figure out the shield sooner or later...still a tough one

It's already been done. Cap beat him

Says the dude with the Captain America avatar and signature. :monkey1

IMO Batman would win, though Batman himself admitted that Captain America had a chance of defeating him.

I say Batman would win. He's smarter, probably trained in more fighting styles, sneakier, and has less scruples. Cap's superhuman speed and strength, as well as the fact that he is one of Marvel's great pure fighting machines would be tough to overcome. But I figure Batman could beat just about anybody. In terms of strategic thinking and will to win, I think they are about equals.

I know some folks wanted to discount the role of a moral code in the Superman/Hulk thread, but I think it makes a big difference when other things balance themselves out pretty well. And I think Cap's physical abilities would match Batman's abilities (physical and utility belt gimmick-based) pretty well. Of course, Cap has flown off the handle from time to time (I believe he paralyzed a few guys in Brubacher's books when he was pissed), and has killed people in WWII, but in general Cap wouldn't resort to cheating or foul play, while Batman would have no such issue. Batman would be fighting Cap psychologically as well as a physically, and would likely find his weaknesses in both areas and exploit them.

It's based on the comics. Batman is supposed to be the smartest guy in the room in the DC-verse. In Marvel, Cap was never treated as on the level as even Ant-Man in the brains department, much less Reed Richards. Cap's just a normal schmuck who was physically feeble but with a good heart and strong will that was gifted with super strength, speed and endurance. Bruce Wayne learned everything he knows on his own out of pure obsessive drive, and created all his own equipment/vehicles, for starters.

I'm a Cap fan, btw :lol

Batman is more ruthless. I think his guerrilla tactics would give him the edge.
prison rules, Batman wins
straight up fight, the edge goes to Cap

Cap all the way.I'm a batman fan but I don't think he would be able to take in cap.cap is a superhuman, batman is ordinary.cap is faster and stronger.batman is smarter but if your talking a straight fight smarts doesn't block punches.bil gates is smart but he wouldn't stand a chance with tyson.

But Bill Gates doesn't fight people professionally, while Batman does :D And his intelligence does apply to his fighting techniques. He would know which technique to use to attempt to account for Cap's obvious physical advantages.

I like preeny's distinction. If it's a straight up fight, neither guy has weapons, and they're in a locked room with no ability to use their environment to their advantage, then Cap would probably win in my book, as well. If nothing else, Batman's human endurance would give out well before Cap's did, and you could only pull a rope-a-dope with Cap for so long.

Why do people assume Batman is smarter. It because Caps is a blondie? :dunno

I think everyone is forgetting that Captain America is a the perfect fighting machine. He's faster and stronger than Batman and at a certain point he will wear him down.

To me this is the very best DC v Marvel comparison though. Almost anything I could imagine that would give one the advantage I could also imagine being the case for the other.

If you take away all the gadgets and tricks and whatever, I'll give the nod to Captain America. Though it will not be an easy fight. Captain America is supposed to be the pinnacle of human physicality in the Marvel Universe, even with the assistance of the super soldier serum he is indeed faster, stronger and has more stamina than Batman.

Batman is the peak of human fitness in the DC Universe. If there is any "regular human" in the DC Universe that is at the top of his game, it's Batman. His intellectuality and detective nature gives him the smarts and he is a deadly martial artist.

However, when it comes down to who is a "pure fighting machine", think of Cap as a mixed martial artist (through his DECADES of fighting) and Batman as a ninja. Lock them both in a bright white room with no where to go and hide, I think Captain America will win. Batman often relies on the shadows and stealthiness as his initial edge. Cap also has a habit of "holding back" against weaker villains, he is technically a "boy scout" when it comes to his full strength much like Superman. In a battle against Batman, he might initially hold back until realizing how deadly/skilled his opponent really is.

If you include all the tricks and gadgets, Batman can just about beat anyone. He'd have another dart or another weapon that would be able to drug Cap or knock him out. It really all depends on the type of scenario it would be.

What about Wolverine vs. Batman? There's another one.
