I think it's the opposite? The Overton Window has moved pretty towards the right from the past few years. Anything "centrist" would be viewed as downright far left socialist.

I probably qualify as a centrist in terms of American politics too, but my conservative American uncle thinks of me as a far-left guy.

I also consider myself a centrist, But I see the opposite. The left is pushing out the moderates and is spinning further and further into crazy town.

I think this is evidence of the left views being perceived as going farther left than they actually are due to the norm now being rather extremely to the right (Overton Window effect).

As an external observer of your politics, I don't find the left too extreme at all. I'm not saying that there are no extremes on their end, just that the majority of their views aren't actually that far-left. It's just that you've been in a very far-right government setting for a few years now making it more of a norm.

I vehemently disagree we have a far-right government. More like right of center, But I respect your view. I would discuss it more, but I think we are up to the line on bringing up politics in this forum.

You are way off base. The far left is trying to push through things now that the Democrats would have never dreamed of. This all started with Obama who said he would fundamentally change the U.S. He succeeded in doing just that. Never in my life time would I think that men would be able to use women's restrooms. That policy started under Obama. Now we have so many adjectives to describe a person that it is almost comical. Immigration has changed as well. Search on you-tube any of the big name Democrats opinions on immigration prior to the 2016 election. They all believed in having a strong immigration policy. Now if you believe in enforcing immigration law you are labeled a racist. Every hot button issue that Democrats used to be centrist on they are now far left.

The thing you might not be familiar with is quite a few far right individuals like to blatantly lie and claim to be independent/centrist then spend all their time attacking the left and defending the fringe right. They think calling themselves centrist or independent gives them more credibility while they attack the left but usually everyone sees through them after few interactions.

I think K is being funny with that. But there are people who believe that stuff. Used to be only a few places would promote those “stories” as “news” , now with the Internet, its propagated until it seems like its a real thing.

I mean there are hundreds of fringe right wing people with off the wall ideas, including genocide, but most rational people understand those type are loonies and disregard it. Same for the above rumor.
