Now that I think about it, JL reviews weren’t as bad as those for BvS. Not that it necessarily deserved it, but It seemed some critical goodwill carried over from Wonder Woman’s release in the summer. BvS probably was the last one to get panned from the start.

Yeah, it did score 13% higher on Rotten Tomatoes. Markedly higher than Batman v Superman, but 40% is still not good.

Strangely it seemed like WB had taken steps to win some good will from people and the media-inviting the press to behind the scenes stuff, and releasing all of their DC movies’ Comic Con trailers that year to the general public. And like you said, they got some momentum going in, from “Wonder Woman’s” box off numbers and critical reception. But then Warner Bros seemed to undermine all of that good will by rushing Justice League out in a chopped up and pieced back together form.

Regarding the “Captain Marvel” reviews, I’ll probably just wait to see for myself. I don’t really trust the Disney Rotten Tomotoes scores any more. And it’s not that I don’t think the Marvel movies are good. I think a lot of them are great. But the almost exclusively glowing reviews for every movie where they’re fawning over everything they do is a little much.

So what are the general spoilers and post credit scenes on this flick? How does it tie in to the rest of the movies

RUMOR/reported end credit spoilers:

https://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/captain-marvels-post-credits-scenes-revealed/

The first of the post-credits scenes reportedly features Captain America and Black Widow back at the Avengers base with Nick Fury’s pager after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. It’s said that the two of them are unsure what to make of the device, before Captain Marvel herself appears behind them and asks where Fury is. The second scene, meanwhile, is said to be a funny clip of Goose the cat barfing up the Cosmic Cube.

If true, not wasting any time positioning the "new Captain" into the Avengers compound. Like the new neighbor bringing a cake or offering to help move furniture and 3 months later they've moved in and ur out...)
IMO make no sense, but could be *lies* anyway. Or not.:dunno )

There's a still of the Mendelson/Skrull with a Skrull minion that is disturbingly like LOTR "what does the EYE command?" e.g. channeling Saruman but whatever.

I’m so done with white male geek movie reviews i’m waiting for these fine ladies to post their review of CM.

They run the youtube geek channel “Amazonian Lost Tribe: How to keep your kids safe from giant spiders, snakes and superhero crossover analysis”

You do not want to get a low Rotten Tomatoes score from them...

If GITS didn’t kill cinematic anime adaptations Alita definately will. :lol

220 million budget and that box office. :thud:

Every anime adaptation has come to a screeching halt.

The best sci-fi continues to struggle to find a big enough audience to turn a profit.

Good thing they didn't release it in December. It would have been absolutely crushed by Aquaman, Bumblebee, Into the Spider-Verse and Mary Poppins. Remember Mortal Engines? Yeah, no one else does either, lol.

You should see it Jye, even if you don't care for anime, it's still amazing sci fi.

Yes, very telling indeed as to how many diehard MCU fans that BL has turned off with her narcissistic virtue-signaling bigotry.

Sorry, Khev ... but I don't think many of the DIEHARD fans are being turned off by this.
Furthermore, from what I'm reading, the tracking for this continues to increase, so all of the cries of the butt-hurt people out there may be driving others to see it, totally negating the desired effect.

Oh I'm sure CM will get it's $100 million opening and 700-800 million total and the movie itself might even be decent but BL herself is just so off-putting.

I can't disagree with that.
As I'm sure you're aware of, she has back-pedaled a bit on her initial statement:

Brie Larson Clarifies Her Comments About Making The CAPTAIN MARVEL Press Tour More Inclusive

The problem with this is whether she was genuinely misunderstood and is simply clarifying her comments, or if she's doing damage control due to the ever-present shadow of The Mouse. I expect that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I actually wasn't aware of that but her comments seem pretty disingenuous compared to what was said before. So according to her "I have no interest in what white men think" equals "oh I totally want white men to weigh in I just want other demographics to weigh in too?" Eh, whatever Brie, lol.

My daughter who's oblivious to all this actually wants to see the movie so I'm sure I'll catch it on the big screen and will do my best to judge it on its own merits.
