not real sure you can put that decision on an entire generation, especially considering what it covers today wasn't what it was originally created to cover. Also not real sure how creating a program designed to force people to save for retirement is considered an entitlement. If anything, I would think that it was supposed to take the burden of caring for one generation off the next generation. Like all things governmental, it has been twisted and misappropriated so it is now a drain on the economy like the majority of our entitlement programs. It should be pretty simple, you put money into it, and when you retire you take that money out.

When Social Security was first created very few were living long enough to enjoy it or not enjoy it for very long. Now we all live much longer and thus the money does not go as far. Add that to the fact that the govt dipped their fingers in it and you have the problems we have today. Personally I understand the concept behind Social Security... But it ends up being another example of the Govt holding our hands and telling us what to do with our money while screwing everything up.
