Sideshows new TBD policy is their way of taking time to judge orders and assess the correct ES for that particular piece, to maximise their sales and profit.
They are a business.

Argue here for the next 20 years, it won't change a thing.
Order don't order who cares but you.

These threads need to get back to what matters, discussions about the piece of polystone being offered.

I am still not so sure they have a rock solid method, even with the TBD bit. Some stuff flies under the radar (because there is so much coming out), and who know's how many people don't buy direct? Plus interest can spike after other pieces come out. Look at the Mythos line. They sold 5k orange Vaders! Bet they could have moved another 2k pieces easy.

I do think they are doing the Reg buyers/Eupean buyers a favor with these lackluster Exclusives though. I mean, that's a huge premium to pay to go direct for that market, so I think thats a pretty good model.

****Onto the statue itself, given the fact the caboose is front and center, and the material is different, I cant see this havy saggy bottom syndrome. It would kill this piece. I am curious about what the whip is going to be made out of. If its similar to what Tweeterhead used on elvira it shouldn't pose a breaking problem.

It would be devastating if they screw up the rear end...devastating.

Agreed. Discussing ES seems to be an absolute waste of time. I think Sideshow understands our concerns but it has been said before: Sideshow is a business. They will do what they feel is best to increase sales. As collectors our options are very clear.

1. Be onboard with whatever they decide
2. Stop preordering and wait until the ES is announced
3. Stop collecting Sideshow

Sideshow uses a repertoir of tactics to move large ES including misinformation in newsletters. Getting mad is pointless. A lot of people here do not learn from things that have happened in the past and act surprised when a large ES is finally revealed. People also love referencing old pieces from like 7 years ago when Sideshow is clearly not the same company. Hulk PF, Doom PF, etc. are gone guys. Move on. Every now and then you get a hint of those days but it's rare so when it happens DO NOT ASSUME THOSE DAYS ARE BACK. The days of low ES were there to build interest in the Sideshow brand. Now that they have you addicted the can make as many as they want.

Never expect a low ES on anything and you won't be disappointed.

THEN...

I wish you would keep to your promise.

Which one did you get?

I'm guessing Lobo :dunno

As far as unannounced characters...tough call...I will guess a villain...maybe Lex.
Wasn't Flash/Aquaman supposed to be next?

Ill bet one or both at least make an appearance at SDCC14. One of the artists said they had a slew of things done that they could not reveal. Pretty exciting stuff. I have no hope of keeping up, but pretty exciting either way.

I hope so...Flash is my fav DC character. I think they are supposed to be next as far as the Justice League characters are concerned, but SSAlex keeps saying on the other forum that she has seen/heard nothing regarding those characters. That makes me think that they are a ways down the line yet.

No, but having enough money to minimize problems helps.

Your right. SSC should charge more money for their merch and release ridiculously high ES on all their pieces. Then they should have more than enough money to minimize their problems.

On the real though, QC is a hands on issue. It will always require inspections and standards. Having money is only part of the solution. It does help. However, mgmt is always the key to QC. I believe it is their efforts (more than money) that set the standards of QC. I personally don't have many complaints when it comes to SSC's QC. My orders for the most part have turned out very well. Out of all the statues I have ordered, I only returned one because of QC issues. The other 3 pieces I had issues with were resolved with mint replacements. Out of a total of 24 SSC statues I have, I think that is a pretty good track record. Please keep in mind no company is perfect when it comes to QC issues.

You don't have to be sarcastic about it. Sideshow already has enough money to hire extra people to be hands on and manage the situation. The people who receive most of the profit just choose not to because it would take away from how big of a house and fancy of a car they have, or will have.

It most definitely is not. Although if your under 30 I would probably expect that answer. Not a knock at being under 30, just that the under 30 crowd didn't grow up knowing the generation that fought WWII. I think the entitlement mindset started late 80's early 90's and has gotten progressively worse since.

Are you saying the baby boomers aren't self entitled with social security?

Yes Sideshow have QC issues but they always deal with them. Every issue I've had has been dealt with swiftly.

If I owned a company as big and successful as Sideshow I would expect to reap the rewards.
No business gets that big without being good at what they do.

Do you know what their overhead is? If not, why are you assuming anything

They're the best out there right now, but for how long? They have great customer service for sure, I just wish I didn't have to deal with them about 50% of the time I receive a statue. If my Superman arrives next month without any issues I will be one happy man.

I was just joking around mcd. Don't take my comment personally. That is why my next paragraph starts with...On the real though.

I begrudge no one for living in a big house or driving a fancy car. It is something we work towards for ourselves or our family. Why should I take issue with someone else wanting the same thing? As I said before, my personal track record with SSC's QC has been very solid. However, I am not someone who thinks perfection is an attainable QC goal for any company. With anything that is mass produced, there is a margin of error for QC. If you receive a bad piece from SSC, they offer you a replacement or a 100% refund if you choose. Some pieces have had gross QC misses (Rogue, Psylocke PFs). However, I'm fairly confident that SSC hits the QC mark far more times than not overall. At least, that has been my personal experience.

I'm not hating are their success by any means. I think the founders of this company deserve the finer things because they've smashed through many artistic barriers and leaped over plenty of high creative hurtles. I just hope that they don't become greedy and cut costs in the wrong places.

Good points. Only speaking for myself, I am not talking about LOW ES. I only mean REASONABLE ES for DC similar to the Spidey Comm numbers. I haven't PO'd WW or Catwoman and my last PO was Supes but I would PO the ladies if the ES were reasonable like 5000 or 6000 in total. For a huge license like DC, I don't think anyone expects low numbers. It isn't possible. Anyhoo, who cares. I just hope the announce it soon so I can decide whether to buy or not. I am waiting for Arkham PFs, may want them more. These comic PFs look great but I am hoping the next Catwoman looks even better and a bit more edgy.
