$400 is the new standard. Our only way to combat that is to:

1. Buy only what you love and not just what you like
2. Don't deviate into other lines that you see at SDCC or stuff like Hot Toys
3. Buy less altogether

Gotta agree with this. It's not like there won't be a dozen OTHER things collectors will want throughout the year...at these prices I could pay off a Mustang instead of getting 1 piece each month.

I do really love the way this came out, but if Flash, GA, Aquaman are going to be at $425-450...I may only get that very special piece on occasion, which means I need to decide on a direction pretty fast.

Like Spidey said, such a big jump so quick is hard to swallow. I sure haven't gotten such a raise in my own finances during that time. But it's pretty normal for a company to want to make more by doing less.

Honestly, this price bump has me wondering how committed I am to other pieces I already have on order...

Good advice. I've been doing all of the above for awhile now. :D :duff

It's perfect timing for me. Glad I got into collectin when I did. I am at the point where I can only afford pricewise and spacewise to only buy what I really want. I've already started selling off stuff that I bought just because I thought it looked cool. Can't afford to do that now at these prices!

Yup. My preorder list is small and I don't even flinch when what I consider awesome miscellaneous pieces get shown. No matter how well they look. Recent examples are the Bruce Lee GOD 1/3 from Blitzway or the Azog from Weta.

I am guilty of impulse buys, but they will be fewer and farther between from now on. I am considering cancelling a few of my existing pre-orders, too.

I will order this Catwoman, though. I have long wanted a Batman, Joker, Catwoman trio for my display...for me, those are the three most iconic characters from the "bat-verse".

Yep the price jump has actually helped me decide WHAT I want if anything. As of right now the only piece I am trying to find a way to make it happen is the Superman PF, and that is ALL. While I would like to get a few more, that is the only one I can practically look at now. Wonder Woman would be nice, but as cool as the EX is I can wait on a Regular if they are available down the road. Other then that Catwoman, Sinestro, the new Cap statue, well, they aren't worth the money to me. Plain and simple.

What is the jump in the price of these in say the last 4 or 5 years. $50 in the 2 years I have been a member here, and $130 since the Spiderman Back in Black Com came out. Those are HUGE numbers. I know I am the first one to say we don't have guns to our heads to buy these, but it is a bit much.

I think that it is pretty obvious by the fact that the Wonder Woman PF Ex doesn't even have an Es yet and has been out for more then a month, that these aren't moving the way they did with the Superman and Batman PFs. Hell the MOS PF has been out almost a year and it still says TBD, and the Keaton batman is like Wonder Woman, no ES in sight. I contrast that with the $300 JSCampbell Spiderman Comiquette that has been out for 6 months, has a total ES of 5250, and is about to sell out. Well obviously the price hike is slowing people down, especially when the Superman 1/4 PF can't sell out 5000 Reg in double the time it takes to sell out 5250 1/5 Spiderman Coms.

Good advice. I've been doing all of the above for awhile now. :D :duff

lol... this hobby is going to become more and more selective. There are going to be a lot more SMALLER collections out there... lol

:goodpost: This is very true for most collectors, I think SSC likes to think that we collect nothing but SSC pieces. Which I am sure isn't the case for most of us. I for one collect comics and anime collectibles too. So affording these price hikes just isn't possible without being very selective on what I buy. That said I would have loved to get one villain to go with each JLA member, but that just isn't going to happen for me at these prices. I am happy we only have two more JLA members left to go, I will be getting Flash for sure. I will only buy Aquaman if they knock it out of the park though. Other than that I'll stick to my video game, Bat-verse, the occasional Spider-man piece, and a Wolverine PF.

Who'd be down for an ultra rare ES of 5 version of Catwoman holding a real diamond? List price. . . $6,000. Yeah I'm not married so ya know. But hey if anyone's willing to swap out their wife's wedding ring diamond with a fake and use it for a custom hand. . . I WILL compliment your posted pic. That I can do for you

She turned out beautiful and the two head sculpts, detailed base and amazing pose with her whip make this a pretty epic piece, in my opinion (it is far better than I had expected it to be). Unfortunately for me, I am reluctantly going to have to pass on this one unless I cancel "Queen of the Dead", which I don't intend to do. I have far too many pre-orders this year and with rising prices (as well as a plummeting Canadian Dollar)... :( Congrats to those that get her though! She looks like a definite winner!

I passed on Queen of the Dead and glad I did. She is a meaningless character to me. Gotta stay focused on my lines. Every piece I get has to click on all cylinders as well as check all my requirement boxes. Given that I am an older comics fans I feel to be harder than most in grading them.

I agree in part with you on the staying focused on my lines and has to click on all cylinders, Fox, that is the way you have to collect my Friend but I from time to time do get a Stand Alone Piece such as the Queen of the Dead, I will remember you when I display her in my Collection :lol:lol:lol there I already forgot you :wink1:

I only told myself I was going to get the Deathwing statue one it's out for PO. So far, that idea when out the window when I ordered Wonder Woman, Red Sonja, Igor and (eventually) Catwoman.

Damn you Sideshow. Damn you...

This is an awesome piece, so far. Obviously the fit of her costume must be perfect. Love both heads. Don't screw it up at all SSC!!!!

tha's the beauty of this forum, you can get to admire statues in others' collection, and yours is quite a delight. Can't wait to see pics of the Hell ******'s a$$

After reading this thread, i'm gonna unintentionally start spelling the buttocks word literaly "a" "*" "*".....instead of adding the "s" ...lol

The height wouldn't be an issue, you can easily adjust the Besta. The problem is the width, the Besta is only 22 inch wide. It's a shame cause the Bat and The Cat belong together.

Did you get the measurements for both? There's no way they'll fit?

Neither can I?

Interesting, there's always Caboose

Dude I know we've never talked but from what Ive read, there are very few statues that you love. You seem to love this and I think you should lol. Dont let the peer pressure get to you though lol. Im definitely in, regardless of the price tag. For her at least

Sent from the Bat Computer

Bah... Don't listen to everyone... I love plenty of statues. Go to the Star Wars thread or the Marvel thread and you will see plenty of praise from me :) Just something about the DC pieces. The way I collect is I have to have some sort of connection to the character from my childhood/early teen years and still have love for that character in my adulthood. I use to buy much more but found that if those pieces did not fit that rule I tended to grow board with them. There are many statues that I think are incredible but I wont by because I just don't have the room nor to buy everything I like.

Catwoman causes a problem. I really like the character. But never had love for that character in my youth. But the statue is outstanding and I love Batman so the temptation is there. Will have to see how the mood strikes me on Thurs. Most likely I will pass since SSC has the license to my greatest childhood hero, GODZILLA!!! If the new movie rules Godzilla may be my final SSC piece for a while.
