The thing about this law is that it gives the government power over service providers on account of sites posting content that is not their responsibility. Intellectual property is protected, and it is not a violation of free speech to prosecute piracy, but violating the rights of ISP's as an excuse for protecting the rights of intellectual property owners is a really bad idea.

some other things about this bill. It will give pharmaceutical companies the ability to copy write chemical combinations.
you like using the cheaper over the counter ( wal-mart) brand of aliev instead of alieve, or zanex, or whatever? too bad. only one company can make that drug now. no more cheap meds.
i've also come to discover that if a website is accused of having material that is pirated on it, and it's an american website, that site is shut down by the government, immediately. it is now up to the owner of said site to step forward and prove their innocence, and untill such time as they do, or they prove the offending material is purged, the site stays shut down.
guilty until proven innocent, and complete circumvention of due process.
One of my congressmen is currently supporting this bill, and is shown on opencongress.org to have received LARGE campaign contributions from all the special interests who are backing and pushing this bill.
I'll be campaigning hard to get him kicked out this next election.
