I actually really enjoying having a cgc collection, they display wonderfully and there is no debate over the exact condition of what i have. I have first appearance deadpool, and a ton of the mighty thor ol school issues.

CGC graded books are a joke and a waste of money, IMO.

No reason to call it a joke, it's very popular in the US, Canada and in Europe. It's also very lucrative investment if you obtain a key issues that continue to increment in value, like X-men 1, Giant Size X-men 1, or Hulk 181 for example. Those are just a few example as the value of those books are not a joking mater.

Ah good point ink. I've seen alot of CGC comics that's way over price and no one buys em. It get relisted over n over.

Although I do get some and buy some modern CGC because I love the cover/story. Too poor for the vintage CGC comics; I never buy over $100 in CGC.

I can call it whatever I want. It's my opinion of CGC. :lol

I can see it for silver age important key issues, but people get last month's copy of amazing spider-man graded and try to sell it for $100 :cuckoo:

I checked out those links and found the comments interesting. They are older sites and I would be very curious to know what those people think now. Alot has changed since 04/05. I think the CGC concept has grown alot since then. From personal experience, on key issues, when I sell I get much more return than in non-graded comics.

How is you getting a moldy book make CGC a scam? Sounds more like the seller is the one at fault to me. Perhaps his basement storage got flooded, and he decided to dump the moldy cases onto unsuspecting buyers.

misread post. seller used cgc to scam. since comic technically still sealed, paypal sided with buyer about cgc rating being accurate.

That's brutal. Definitely gonna have to watch out for that. Sorry that happen.

Not a CGC guy at all. With Ink on this one. I put my money into buying the trades and hardcovers of the series I'm really into. They display great on book shelves, and I can pull them out and reread at anytime.

I love the hard cover collections also. I currently have been reading Messiah War, Messiah Complex, Second Coming, and Necrosha. Those have been my favs recently. I agree with being able to read them anytime!

The hardcovers are nice for those above reasons, i actually enjoy collecting both as well, i just enjoy being able to display the covers of some of my favorite classics, which is nice with the cgc comics.

I like your process Celtic. I visit my LCS and pick up the monthly issues of my favorite lines. When there is a good story, I pick up the hard back so I can casually enjoy it and when there is a particular artist or issue I really admire, I try to get it in CGC.

CGC is such a scam

These. :lecture

The encapsulated graded business model for collectibles has destroyed the stamp, coin, and card hobby. Thanks to CGC, comics have become the next commodity.

Books are meant to be read, not stuck in an ephemeral, overpriced plastic tray. Grading is subjective.

The only good thing I've seen about CGC is the population list.
