He was one of the greats....

:bow :bow :bow :bow

On a side note, this coming just a week after the "death" of Vince is just weird.

With a true tragedy like this, I hope that Vince has the good taste to drop the whole "Who murdered Vince" story line.

From ABC News...

The deaths are being investigated as a possible suicide and double homicide, authorities told ABC News

Pope said "the instruments of death were located on scene," but he would not specify what those instruments are or where in the house the bodies were found. Pope added the department is "not actively searching for any suspects outside of the house."

Thats ****ing crazy!

wtf man!? so supposedly chris lost it and murdered his family then committed suicide!?

God that is just hard to swallow...

Hmmm...

Vince McMahaon "killed" in limo explosion, now this...

Almost sounds like publicity melodrama to me. They're all probably chilling in the Bahamas sipping margaritas until the next big PPV event.

Vince is just a story line.

Benoit is being cover by real press.

Its true.

Ya the limo thing was just an act but I don't think anyone could make up a story that is as sick a Benoit's. I watch a little and I always really enjoy it. This is very sad news and very weird.

The "Death of Vince" storyline is really stupid. To me, it was really poor the way they spent like one minute last week to say a few words about the death of Sensational Sherri (a female wrestler in the 80's WWF & manager of Macho Man and Shawn Michaels) and then they put more compassion and caring into the fake storyline of Vince's death.

It's a shame that it takes the death of a talented wrestler who's currently on their roster to make them notice how horrible the Death of Vince storyline is.

BTW- Yahoo reported the Benoit story with a bit more of a twist....

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife, and son were found dead Monday and police said they were investigating the deaths as a murder-suicide.

Detective Bo Turner told television station WAGA that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide, but said that couldn't be confirmed until evidence was examined by a crime lab.

The station said that investigators believe the 40-year-old Benoit killed his wife, Nancy, and 7-year-old son, Daniel, over the weekend, then himself on Monday. A neighbor called police, and the bodies were found in three rooms.

Lead investigator Lt. Tommy Pope, of the Fayette County Sheriff's Department, told The Associated Press the deaths were being investigated as homicide, and that the causes of death awaited autopsy results on Tuesday. Pope said the bodies were discovered about 2:30 p.m., but refused to release details.

The house is in a secluded neighborhood set back about 60 yards off a gravel road, surrounded by stacked stone wall and a double-iron gate. On Monday night, the house was dark except for a few outside lights. There was a police car in front, along with two uniformed officers.

Benoit was a former world heavyweight and Intercontinental champion. He also held several tag-team titles during his career.

"WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family's relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy," the federation said in a statement on its Web site.

Benoit was scheduled to perform at the "Vengeance" pay-per-view event Sunday night in Houston, but was replaced at the last minute because of what announcer Jim Ross called "personal reasons."

The native of Canada maintained a home in metro Atlanta from the time he wrestled for the defunct World Championship Wrestling.

The WWE canceled its live "Monday Night RAW" card in Corpus Christi, Texas, and USA Network aired a three-hour tribute to Benoit in place of the scheduled wrestling telecast.

"My relationship with Chris has extended many years and I consider him a great friend," Carl DeMarco, the president of WWE Canada, said in a statement. "Chris was always first-class — warm, friendly, caring and professional one of the best in our business."

So, it's looking like he might have killed them and then himself the next day.

That is crazy.

Man this sucks. He was one of the few that like someone mentioned above that could actually wrestle. It's a very sad thing indeed and my prayers are with them.

My roommate asked me during the tribute "What happens if it turns out Benoit had something to do with the deaths?"

How bad would a tribute to a person that murdered his family and then himself (if that does turn out to be the case) make the WWE look?

Let's see, The Radicialz defected from WCW to WWF (WWE) on Jan. 2000. They were comprised of Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Melenko and Perry Saturn. Of the 4 men, 2 are dead, 1 went crazy (story line & real life) and Dean was the only smart one to retire from the ring and work in the background.

Edit- Just heard about the possible murder suicide and that's just crazy. Make that 2 dead & 2 went crazy and Dean is still retired.

Why would Chris call the WWE offices and inform them he couldn't wrestle because he and his family were caughing up blood and then suddenly they are found dead. Sounds to me like they were all poisoned. It will be interesting to hear the toxicology reports of the cause of deaths.

The way I heard it was he went home because his wife and son were coughing up blood. Either way, if that part of the story is true, the whole murder/suicide thing seems weird.

Well I wonder when Vince McMahon will come out of seclusion and announce that it was all an act but in light of the "real" tragedy it just isn't entertaining anymore.

He did it tonight.

Wow, that is just so sad. I used to watch wrestling like 5 years ago and he was always a thrill to watch. Very sad indeed. RIP Chris Benoit and his wife and child. I hope it was not a case of suicide as there has been talk about it.

Right now I am not kidding nor am I joking here.....

If Chris did in fact kill that kid of his then I hope Chris burns in hell. Come on he was only 7, until the details are released I'll hold off on my "I'll miss you Chris" comment.
