Might be a good idea to get images of the Maximus Andy B sculpted... I assume its pretty darn accurate and could serve as a good guide for the project.

Hey guys!

Sorry for the extended silence, been trying to get some things caught up so I can devote some quality time to this very interesting project.

As with my other projects, I'm using a new organization system to keep track of orders. Lord Vicious has so kindly organized this thread and gathered names of those of you who want on board. Now, in order for me to create an official order list, I'll ask those who signed up to send me a short email to help me keep it organized.

Please send the email to [email protected] with the subject line "Armor". include in it your Screen Name, Real Name, Shipping Address, and Quantity of Armor sets you want.

You can pay me via PayPal at info @chowes.com. If you need to arrange to pay with a Money Order, please PM or Email me and we can work it out.

As official orders come in, I will create a chart like on my other commissions.

One clarification. The magic number of 15 people was to assure the lower precast discount of $100.00 for the complete set. Now that we have reached that critical number I can take more orders now at the discount rate until I start casting.

So, as long as you lock in your order before then you'll save some money!


I have a DVD of Gladiator from which I will take screen captures to assure accuracy of the armor. If anyone comes across a photo they want to share for reference, please feel free. As always, I invite participation in the process.

No problem! It's going to take a while to create, so you have some time. This is new territory and will take some experimentation.

I'm using the Hot Toys Truetype body as my base, but I will try to leave a little wiggle room so it could possibly fit other bodies, as well.

Ok before i start making any internet purchases i wanna get some advice.

I haven't seen the Ignite body so I'm planning on using one of these HT bodies, unless someone can suggest any better bodies i'll have to stick with this one. the only problem with these ones that i can think of is that the hands have itchy trigger fingers.

so my main concerns are:
which body colour guy to use, and
will those latex coverings be the same colour as the body chosen? (Sovereign)
i don't have a head yet, but, how will the neck joint be covered? if using the smaller neck plug

I'd definitely stay away from the Ignite body, 'cause it's crap. Chris will sculpt the armor, using a HT body as a base, so that's the body you need.

The hands are always replaceable with other hands if the 'trigger finger' hands bother you. The colour doesn't really matter that much, since most of the exposed body parts could be covered with latex coverings like Sovereign is offering, and I think he lets you choose the colour of coverings you want.

As for the head, your best choice for now is the Hot Toys Russel Crowe head (if you can find one) which uses a small neck plug to fit on the body...

I did some Ebay shopping and came up with this:

repainted HT Crowe headsculpt, Ignite sword (needs to be repainted and customised), light blue undershirt and a standard caucasian HT body...

No problem mate! It's always a possibility the HT head and latex sleeves are slightly different in colour, but they can be painted quite easiliy I guess...
As for the body, I'm using a standard HT caucasian body.



The last thing that's needed for this Maximus custom is a good set of boots, I think. I was thinking of using and customising a pair of HT Rambo 3 boots or Alexander the great (from Dragon Historical) boots...
