In all fairness to Chris the main reason to charge significantly more than face-value postage for international shipments is the time it takes to physically go to a U.S. post office to mail anything other than a letter internationally.

I try to offer everything I sell on eBay to buyers worldwide, but I charge a similar $3+ handling fee for most items. Having been the non-American wanting American goods, I know how irritating it is to see sellers who only ship domestic. At the same time a person's time, in this case extra time, is worth something.

In all fairness, after his poor communication and business skills, his eating the extra cost would've been the least he could do.

If I was the only international customer he had, I'd agree with you. But Howes probably held off the international order post office runs to make 1 or 2 runs to ship everything out at once. So charging a 5$ handling fee per order for ONE combined run to the post office is insane unless he lives a hundred miles away.

I guess he felt it was smarter to charge more and end up with more money in his coffers rather than help people out on shipping. Then again with the mans poor business skills and terribly lacking sense of orginization, I wouldnt put it past him to fail to see the benefit of mass international ship outs..

Didn't he tell people the shipping costs in the beginning? The international customers agreed to that shipping charge, so I'm not sure what the issue is here, unless he promised to send them by a faster, more expensive method.

Anyway, I don't really think this is that big of a deal compared with the real issues that still exist.

Hell, if he really wanted to save money, the post office is so desperate for business they will come pick up what your shipping.

Just very annoying to see 5$ out of 7$ go to his pockets. Minor issue sure, but worth noting. My post was my review of his product and service. Take it for what you will. It's just extra salt on the wound that doesn't sit well after waiting forever for him to cast the heads, and then wait while ebay guys get theirs, then after I had to remind him that I placed an order (he forgot to write me down in his notes) the cane comes painted like garbage. These kick-in-the-nuts add up....

I certainly understand. It's been a rotten situation all around. it never had to get to the point it did if Howes would have just shown his customers some respect, and bothered to keep communications open.

If you can hold out for a little bit, I am going to sculpt about 3 cane styles and cast them, I will paint my canes with a lot more care. I'll probably even do the flame cane!

I've received my heads from Chris today and they look great. Some of the best casting I've ever gotten. Its unfortunate that all this stuff has happened since they really are very good quality.
Maybe he should get a business manager.

So at this point the only one I'm still hanging on is David, which I can be patient for. Personally the only ones that got me aggravated were the ones he said were done and then stopped hearing updates.

Just a quick update - Chris emailed me out of the blue today to say he would have pictures of Cameron available shortly. I'll definitely add some pics once we get them!

That looks nice! I'd actually love one of those heads, but there is no way in hell I'd even attempt to get one from him.

Well, people are getting their sculpts and posting pics... it's what the thread should be about, so I guess now it's more alive than ever.
