The Drizzle, obviously we don't see eye-to-eye, but you're able to agree to disagree, so I thank you for at least attempting a normal conversation about this, something which is apparently far beyond the grasp of some here.

So I'm done with this thread for now (which is I guess what you guys want, right? To have your pity party/witch hunt in peace?) and you won't be hearing from this "sucker" until I receive my order from Howes.

Hope pics of my stuff will serve as proof that I got "ripped off".

I apologize if you feel I was questioning your integrity. As you say, I was attempting a friendly jibe to try to make things a little lighter in here. Sorry if I offended.

You didn't, I just felt the need to clarify for the sake of others reading. Leaving it unanswered almost seems like an admission of guilt. Look at how guilty Chris looks for not bothering to answer people.

As I said, for what it's worth I will try to get some info about refunds and stuff, and call me naive, but I just don't see how a person with such a relatively high profile in the industry would choose to ruin his reputation for the sake of a few thousand dollars. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

It doesn't make sense to us either, and is, I think, a component of what makes it so infuriating- and what makes us feel like we are less than bugs to him. He came here acting all gracious and buddy-buddy, built up a big image for himself, but that veneer fell away pretty fast. I do think you are a tad naive (no offense) but I think you'll see as soon as you begin discussing refunds for others you will lose his ear... it seems like he plans to keep his mitts hooked tightly into any and all monies he has received. If you come to him offering money you will get his attention; once you have paid you're not important.

i do get a weird feeling costumeball is trolling to see what evidence we have against chris. personally i believe its not to our benefit. my gut says everything we post is being compiled and twisted. I believe refund requests being ignored combined with a unwillingness to provide adequate time table is legally enough to file a complaint with his local police department. i suggest being careful with the information you provide to costumeball and i suppose a potential chris howes lurking around.

That had actually occured to me as well. Now that I know someone else has had that feeling, I will be careful.

No, don't take it the wrong way, I don't know you from Adam, but your line of questioning did seem very precise and when PM admitted he had a weird feeling about it, I had to admit I did, too. in this situation that is all about trustworthiness, it is a prime concern. Just being honest, not calling names. I still had hope you were on the up-and-up and just not understanding the magnitude of the problem. I've been on the net since late 1993, and I have been in my share of bad fights and absurd stupid nonsense in my years in various other net communities, from r.t.m. all the way to mailing lists and forums. I have been a bully, and I have been bullied. I have learned in all that time that name calling and savaging people doesn't fix anything, it just gets people riled up and makes them adversarial for no good reason when it's so much better to care, and leave things better than you found them. In some sections here (GI Joe section comes to mind lately) I still get treated like crap just for having an opinion, but I refuse to get down in the mud and get dirty in conversations ever again. I do my best to stick to facts, or make sure people know something is my opinion. If I see it going downhill, I either try to put on the brakes and chill it out, or I just move on. I hope you do hear from Chris, but I bet you don't again, and if you do, he will ignore all talk of refunds. It's a sad, crappy, totally correctable situation, but I think Chris' feelings of importance are going to keep him from fixing it properly, because he would have to step off his high horse and be humble. I'm not sure he gives too much of a about what he has done. It's obvious he thinks he is too important for this to matter. I'd love to be proven wrong. I'd love to see him be a good person and correct what he has let spin out of control.

But you're totally right. It's about trustworthiness. And yeah, I can definitely see how this situation has caused people to question everyone's trustworthiness, not least of all Howes himself. And also, in a thread where people aren't who they say they are (captdan shenanigans) I guess it does make sense that people would put their conspiracy theory thinking caps on.

I hope you do hear from Chris, but I bet you don't again, and if you do, he will ignore all talk of refunds.

You give yourself way to much importance and these type of conspiracy theories are laughable. Keep it up, I don't remember when was the last time I have laughed this hard.

Costumeball, I think I've been very reasonable. I haven't accused him of stealing or scamming. I haven't threatened to press charges, sue or physically harm him I was even understanding until Mollins received his head from ebay and you think people are being unreasonable?
First of all HE was the one who set the rules with his preorder discount and there was no stipulation that preordering meant you get served last. I think paying upfront is a big step in showing good faith and we haven't received anything in return except the same rhetoric. Another thing, most people on this board are overly understanding. If you look at the outpouring of sympathy Les has received during his unfortunate circumstances, by simply by keeping in contact in one way or another pretty much everyone was cool. I don't believe it was intentional but we have been taken advantage of.

Yes, it was a fiasco. I'm still worried that unstable stalker is going to show up at my door with a gun. It's been like a very very bad slow motion nightmare. My lawyers and the police told me to keep my mouth shut. That was hard, especially with people thinking the worst and saying very hurtful things that simply aren't true about me. I'm happy it can finally be out in the open. Harassment, stalking, and criminal threatening aren't very good for your peace of mind. Hopefully things can get back to normal and start moving more smoothly now.
