apparently the director of photography walked through the middle of a scene they were shooting causing them to have to cut and start over and supposedly it had been a very long day for Bale and the others involved.

Jesus Christ I love Christian Bale. I want to see him get cold soup in a restaurant someday, calmly leave, and then go to the Chef's home and beat his wife. The man gives Russell Crowe a run for his money in terms of temper; both are outstanding actors and no-bull^^^^ guys. I respect that.

wow, it's too bad that Bale has such a temper. Love him as an actor, and love his intensity, but I'd be scared to work with him!

Maybe it's just because I'm irascible myself, but I completely understand his outburst. If you're trying to shoot a scene, giving it your all, and the DP keeps walking through the scene causing you to cut and start over, I would threaten violence as well. It's comprehendible behavior.

Now, when we see in the news that he showed up at the DP's car after work dressed as Batman for the sole purpose of beating the ^^^^ out of this guy... then we'll know he may be going a bit too far.
