The Nightmare Before Christmas, and How The Grinch Stole Christmas are two of my favs. Can't forget about Mr.Kruegers Christmas, either.

I was born in the summer of 49, so I am among the first generation of post-WWII boomers. I was already in my mid-teens when the animated holiday specials debuted and was much too obsessed with girls and the encroaching counter-culture movement to pay much attention to them. Although as both a Suess and a Karloff fan, I did make it a point to watch Grinch.

I still enjoy It's A wonderful Life and the 1951 A Christmas Carol still gives me the creeps. I have another favorite that has not yet been mentioned: Miracle On 34th Steet, the 1947 classic starring Maureen O'Hara, Edmund Gwen, and little Natalie Wood.

A Christmas Story has become a perennial favorite as well. Though it was set about a decade before my birth, the trails and tribulations of Ralphie Parker and the shenanigans of The Old Man, are very much in sync with my childhood. Things like secret decoder rings, air rifles ("You'll shoot your eye out!"), soap poisoning, body-immobilizing snow suits, and department store Santas, were still very much a part of 50s kid culture.

I guess I'm too old for "A Christmas Story".
Having been born in '59, you may be too young to appreciate fully Ralphie's adventures, Lonnie!

Thats why that film is a classic because I was a kid in the late 70's and early 80's and I identify everything in that movie... Just replace the Red Ryder BB Gun with a Kenner Slave 1 ship with frozen Han Solo and Ralphie's life was my life.

Another Chrismas movie I like, but haven't seen in a while is Mickey's Christmas Carol.

Could be... I definitely never empathized with the 50's and was more a late 60's, early 70's child! I admit I have never really given "A Christmas Story" a fair chance, so I will make it a goal to see it this season. I also freely admit I am a sap for Christmas "tear-jerkers" and "It's A Wonderful Life" and "Grinch" still brings a tear to my eye at the end. :monkey2
