This movie is just going round and round and round in my head, incredible screen play and wonderfully executed! Nolan is a real story teller and visonary genuis!

Endless possibilities in which to interpret this movie i think.

I am holding of really entering into a discussion with this movie as i would like to see it a few times over again before i know what i am talking about :lol

However that said i am very comfortable to give this a perfect 10/10

Still slighty prefer Shutter Island for me :lol

Agreed 110% This film was a pure work of art, I am so impressed with Nolan right now its not even funny. The man is just phenominal with what he does. He's easily one of my favorite film makers. Yes he's now up there with Scorsese, Darabont and Kubrick in my eyes. What an EXCELLENT film! I also agree with you that Shutter Island still gets my vote as the best film of 2010. Also Leo's performance in Shutter Island WILL win him an oscar and hopefully Scorsese too.

I've just actually noticed you've changed you're name. :lol:rock
I still haven't seen Shutter Island. It's out soon if I'm not mistaken though so I can check it out then. :rock

Do yourself a favor, its an amazing film!

I never seen shutter island, most people say the ending is weak but i wanna see for myself. Whats your take on it.

Most peoples minds are also weak.

I got the entire movie pretty well interpreted after my first go, I'm kinda baffled so many people are struggling with it. You just have to pay attention it was all pretty well explained within the confines of the film.

Agreed! :goodpost:

It is also good to see it did pretty well this weekend at the box office.

Wow, I can't believe you typed all that either! :lol

This first half I totally get. And it's pretty clear, that that is how it all worked:

You loose me on this second half though:

Yeah i got lost at that point also, i really want to understand it but my mind is closing in on me at 11.30 pm on a Sunday night :lol

Bloody hell mate are we agreeing on something?

I completely agree, i think Shutter edges it for me and i also think Leo is slightly better in Shutter as far as performances go, i will be gutted if like you say Leo and Scorsese dont win oscars for it

:duff Yes we agree and with your new user name maybe we can be Leo friends :hi5: :lol

On a serious note I can't believe what an amazing actor Leo's become (2002ish - present) He and Depp are my favorites right now.

Just re-read it again slowly, I cant put it any more simpler then that. If Mal is gone, then the world they created is gone too. So Cobb has to default to whatever is there in Limbo, like Fischer ending up in Cobbs world which is falling apart, Cobb ends up in Saitos.

This makes him realise Saito did not and can not wake up from Limbo. Therefore Saito can't get him back in the U.S. in the real world because hes in a coma. It was his connection that would clear Cobb's name of murdering Mal and allow him to see his kids again. This was now impossible in the real world.

Since Cobb can build("he just refuses to") he does. He builds instead of a giant city with Mal like before, builds his old house, and his kids in the same outfit as the flashback he remembers. Its also why Michael Caine is wearing the same outfit, hes building from memory. ("ever notice how cobb does the things he tells you not to"-Arthur)

He spins the top to see if hes dreaming but when his kids actually turn and look at him he doesn't care if hes dreaming or not, hes been waiting years to see them, hug them.

It is my belief because Ariadne knows about Cobbs totum, she is the one who manipulates it to fall to make him think its real and he doesn't have to feel like its just fake, he can grow old in limbo with his kids even tho in the real world he, like Saito is in a coma.

Art's Dice totum right, its just green dice but its loaded meaning in the real world it will roll a certain number everytime. In his dream he can roll whatever he wants tho. Thats why Ariadne can't touch his. But Cobbs is simpler, it just spins or stops. Ariadne knows about it because Cobb tells her how he took it from Mal's safe to remind her its all a dream and they have to wake up. Ariadne did the reverse to Cobb, because he deserved happiness. rather then spin it like Cobb to Mal, Ariadne stops it so he can just be happy.

Thanks Mike, i am going to read it all over again tomorrow after a good nights sleep ha ha, i really do appreciate your efforts to explain though :wink1:

I know right , I still remember him in critters 3. :rotfl

That Leo figure is bad ass Teddy ( I almost said Manji :lol ) , you've done a great job there. :rock

So what about when Saitos is reaching for the gun at the end as an old man? I imagine Saitos shooting Cobb then himself. They both wake up on the plain "where they can be young men together again." - Cobb

Again: why did he reach for the gun? What happened in that scene, or what happened after that?

I also have a question about Spoiler tags.

When I plan to see a movie I stay out of the related threads when opening day becomes imminent and then don't enter until I've seen the movie. That seems logical to me. If people come in and look at recent posts after the movie has been out and get spoiled, they made that choice imo.

Can we just put "spoilers" in the thread title and drop the tags now?

Deckard's ending makes me sad, way too overly complicated for me, though I see the points you make.
Noticed the same clothes on the kids but I really wanted a happy ending for Cobb so I brushed it off. The rest is a lot of extrapolation saying he couldn't get Saito out/Ariadne incepting him, but the same clothes stick. I came out of the theatre thinking the ending was just tacky having the top not tip over and do it's little "falter". Tell me the story, it's not a write your own adventure novel.

I have been trying all day to make a spoilers thread, but it keeps coming up with an error. As soon as it's fixed one of us should make one

That's my point too Mag, they didn't show it so it so it could go either way.

And I agree on spoiler tags, we should put it in the title and just talk freely.

I feel it should be up to you the viewer to decide.
It's like Blade Runner. I still believe that Dekard is Human, regardless that Ridley Scott says otherwise. It's just sits with me better. I was pleased to find out I was not alone when I saw Frank Darabont being interviewed about it

Ah Dude! I've never seen Blade Runner! And now it's spoiled ohnono... :lol:rotfl:lol

Nolan blatantly wanted this reaction. Was it a dream? Was it real? Did he go further down into another dream layer? I'm still undecided. I didn't see the totem wobble cos I looked at my friend because we both knew it was an abiguous final shot. That's what I love about this movie. It can have so many outcomes and I think there is no real conclusion to draw from.

I think you have seen it ;), but if you have not, I have spoilt nothing as the ending is up to your interpretation

Maybe Nolan expect us the viewer to do this

Empathise with Cobb so much, that we like him walk away from the spinning totem not caring whether it falls over or not
