During the work week I may as well stay up because I'm awake most of the night. Just can't sleep. I'm tired, but I just can't sleep long. Weekends I make up for it. I sleep about 10 hours on Saturday and Sunday. Recharging the batteries I guess. You probably have alot on your mind with school and all.

myself........i get about 4 hours of sleep a night maybe 4 1/2 but like ween i make up for it on the weekends and try to sleep in. but on a saturday if i sleep more than 8 hours i feel guilty about sleeping too long and feel ive wasted too much of the day. about once a month though i crash & burn and sleep about 12 hours strait....:google

Have been an insomniac since I could remember. Always had problems going to sleep even at 5 or 6 years old. My brain just refuses to shut off....even when my body is exhausted. Used to be that when I did finally drop off, I'd go into REM or Delta sleep almost immediately so my body was making up for me and 4-5 hours per night was sufficient. Hating the idea of sleeping pills and the dangers of addiction to it, I had developed a few routines to help me turn my brain off through the years (a really dull book or some mindless TV show), and they have helped me manage. But as I've gotten older, seems I can't STAY asleep through the nights. And none of my tried-and-true routines were working. After a bout of 1-2 hours sleep per night for over a week and the exhaustion and brain fuzz, I finally caved and got my doctor to prescribe Ambien CR. Still only get 5-6 hours, but it's a heck of a lot better than 2.

I did an alnighter last night , still not slept , funny you posted this. :lol
I get tired , my body just wont sleep. I relax and count sheep ( even though with my retarded mind I always imagine the sheep with guns having wars and stuff ) but it doesn't work.
Dunno , maybe some people just have bodys that can last longer than others before they need recharging.

I used to suffer quite badly with insomnia. I started to cut down on caffine and started to go to bed and read a book, with some gentle music on my ipod. now I'm in bed by 10.00 every night and asleep before midnight.
The doctor put mine down to stress. I worry about stupid litle things and I wouldn't be able to put them out of my mind, but I'm learning to just let things go.
it's a terrible condition to have, and I don't think people who don't suffer from it understand not being able to sleep.

I usually get about 2-3 hours sleep a night. About 2 or 3 days a week I'm just up the whole night because I can't sleep. Pretty much what you guys all say, just recharge on the weekends.

What does knock me out is taking 3 Tylenol PMs. Within an hour that stuff knocks me out for a good 10 hours. I sometimes even make it a game to see how long I can stay up after taking them.

That actually sounds like a fun game. I will have to try it. :lol

It's great. It's like trying to see how much you can drink without throwing up.:yuck

Happens to me during times of stress (which seem to always happen around Christmas). Nothing ever works for me...not even sleeping aids........after about day 5, when I'm a walking zombie, things seem to naturally shift back to normal....and then I'm good for a long stretch. Serious bouts of insomnia only seem to hit me once or twice a year.

I have trouble sleeping most nights as well. I found a few things that really help me.

1) Don't drink soda or anything loaded with caffeine. (Sounds obvious but a lot of people drink tons of soda.)

2) Don't eat too late.

3) Work out during the day. Your body will definitely feel it at night.

4) Wake up early. This way you will set your body on a schedule. The earlier you wake up then the sooner you will want to go to sleep at night.

5) I can't listen to music. I pick it apart and it entertains me far too effectively. Best thing I have found is to tire your eyes with a book or a really long movie you have already seen before.

6) Sex. Oh yeah. If you are a man... you will be tired after. :lol

7) Do what Bodie does... we all know what that is. It does help.

8) Never just lay in bed with your eyes open doing nothing. I have found that I will stay up for hours this way. Best thing to do is to actually get up and do something with your brain.

Hopefully this helps some one get a decent nights sleep. :D
