I sleep about 5-6 hours every night, but it never seems that I ever feel rested from it. It was then I finally went to a sleep center for observation and found out I have sleep apnea.

So now I will be assigned a CPAP machine next week. I heard it's the best sleep you can ever get with it.

My brother has one of those and he hates it. It's loud and it messes up his sinuses.

no wonder were called freaks..................none of us get a proper night's rest and are a bunch of sleep deprived maniacs...........:lol

My hubby has no problems going to sleep -- he just didn't get any rest from it, even if he "slept" for 10-12 hours. He has been on one of those machines for over a year. He has absolutely no problems sleeping with it. The only sleep position he can't do is on his tummy....and he was never a tummy sleeper anyway. He gets a really good night of sleep, even if it's only for 6 hours some time (he normally gets 8-9)...his body isn't struggling with trying to breathe through the night so he's rested when he wakes in the morning. His sleep is deeper and he now has more REM time. Plus, he doesn't stop breathing in the middle of the night anymore. (on his sleep test, he stopped breathing 78 times). We just came back from a 3-week vacation in Europe and he didn't take the machine with him. He was constantly tired; his sleep was so shallow that he'd wake up about 5-7 times a night...he had no real appreciation for the benefits of that machine until he quit using it for a while.

you just arent using it for what its really for..................:lecture.............:monkey3

:lol.j/k.......WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lol

You're absolutely right and I meant it that way too! :D

It's useless! :monkey2

What causes that? In my brother's case he has a flap of skin in the back of his throat. Not sure what happens but he snores terribly. He's also a smoker which doesn't help.

I'm glad it's works for your hubby!

I hate not sleeping lol you feel all energized and happy at first but once the tiredness kicks in you feel like a friggin zombie. It happens more than it should with me. I have to go to work at 4 in the morning and wake up at 3, and I usually can't sleep and just go to work and drag ass :lol

Combination of stuff. He primarily sleeps on his back, combine that with his weight gain through the years and his air passages getting obstructed = apnea. Plus for me when he's got his CPAP on ....he doesn't snore (because he's not working so hard to get air through his nose and mouth).

Now I know Im not alone thank god :lol...I work graveyard and have been on shift work for 4 years now. Typical day...wake up at 5p.m. leave to work about 10:30 to be there before 11, get out at 8 a.m. go home sleep about 2 hrs and do it all again. In fact yesterday I only slept for about 30 mins and thats cause my wife was driving. Theres days where i'll actually sleep about a good 6-7 hrs but those days are rare....We are not alone :lol :monkey3
