That's expensive.... but when you think about it, $690 isn't too bad considering the type of piece we're getting. It's still in the realm of "that's a good price".

Now, I know you international folks aren't getting as good of a deal at $560 that the US folks would be but it's still pretty reasonable and I'm also one who has to pay extra shipping and extra tax on something to finally receive it on my little small rock island which puts mine up around the $620-650 total paid mark as well.

$190 for shipping? No F' ing way! :lol That's ridiculously overpriced. Chronicle is making a killing off that ridiculous over charge alone.

Depends on the size of the box and who they are using. Hopefully the estimates will be lower when they finalize packaging.

I've worked several "packing jobs" in my life time, and yes the size of the box does matter, but it's mainly the weight that is the most important in factoring the overall cost. And unless these statues weigh over 50lbs, then they are making a HUGE profit. $190 sounds more like an overseas price, now that wouldn't surprise me at all.

It's been the opposite for a couple years, actually. Weight is nearly non relevant since couriers apply volumetric weight, which is calculated based on dimensions. They take height, depth and width and use a formula to determine a related "weight" to those measures, so they use volumetric weight OR actual weight, whichever is higher. The box for a 1:4 scale statue falls usually into the 10-15kg volumetric weight, even if the statue inside is often 5-7kgs, ergo they charge you like if it was a 10-15kg package.
You can easily check this on every courier's website. Only shipping service that charges you only on actual weight (at least, here) is the postal service.

Anymore the size is the major factor as all carriers have expanded DIM weight pricing. It does say UK next to Pythons of the 190

We pay tax also, so that $690 becomes more like $830 plus currency exchange rates and carrier fees. Some parts of this hobby really suck.

I'm still waiting to make sure the movie is good before I buy this. Looks great!

Where did you hear that? Weight has always been one of the determining factors in shipping costs. And I said before, the size of the box definitely does have an impact on costs, no doubt, but no where near as much as the weight of the item. I used to do this for years man, and believe me it sucked. :lol

Sorry but there's no "read that", just try with whatever courier you want and see how dimensional weight is calculated.
On these kind of items it IS non relevant since the box measures always exceed the weight when it comes to dimensional weight calculations. That's why, say, the "product weight" on Sideshow's webpage is 8kg and "dimensional weight" is 13 or 15kg. XM Magneto is a 12kg statue, even with the boxes and styro it's no more than 15kg total, yet the dimensional weight is 22kg.
As I said, pure weight is non relevant when the boxes are so big. But since you'll probably reply that you know better, here:
FedEx - Dimensional weight calculator

Relevant part:
FedEx applies:
Since 18 January 2010, shipments where dimensional weight exceeds actual weight are charged according to the following volumetric calculation:
Dimensional weight in kg per package = Length x Height x Width in cm / 5,000.

As you'll see by yourself, basically all statue boxes have dimensional weight exceding actual weight, which makes actual weight... non relevant when it comes to shipping costs.
