Being a custom like that, you should get a minimum of $200 for that Josh, there's a lot of labor put into that, it's not like it's just a repaint.

I was thinking something around that anyways. Since I have to make a custom box for him and all too I want to be fair.

Well, I assume it's a Medicom Clone that it's built from, so that alone probably ran $120 to start with, then all the custom work added on top of it. Quality custom work fetches and deserves a fair price. I would just be sure to sell it now if you ever think you will, once Sideshow's is out, not saying it'll be better than Hurricane's work, but when there's a cheaper mass produced one out there, people will be less inclined to spend custom prices if the mass production one is close enough in quality.

i'd probably start at 10% above whatever you paid for them, but for what ever reason, I've seen customs sell for a much less than what people paid for them, which is really weird considering how long the wait would be to commission for it straight from the customizer. but I think I've seen people fail to get $50 for a DA painted Ash custom meanwhile I know there are still people waiting for theirs..:lol

yeah, its a medicome ROTS clone. I want to use this figure to help me get a couple other figures like Anakin so I was thinking of going ahead and selling it cause I can always get a Cody when the SS one ships.

I'd fight to get at least $200, or if you paid more than that, at minimum what you paid, it's worth good money.

True enough, but unless your strapped, if you can't get fair money for it, I'd just keep it, it is worth good money, whether someone else is willing to pay or not, you're better of having a unique item in your collection than parting with it and compromising it's value just because at the time no one would give you it's worth.

It could do fine on eBay, buyers may no know who Hurricane is, but if you say it's customized from a Medicom Clone, they can understand how much those alone fetched at one time, and certainly realize Cody's armor would take heavy custom work to convert a standard Clone into him.

Yeah, I'd say you'd likely get more on eBay... I've seen his customs fetch very high prices; and deservedly so.

I've yet to see a Medicom figure go for that much, let alone retail. :lol

I just meant that identifying the base for it could lend some value. People may not feel straight out the box Medicoms are worth the retail price, but may think highly of them enough that if a heavy custom is based on them, it's worth quite a bit.

If they don't feel a Medi straight out of the box is worth retail, they'll feel even less about it's value in being used as the base for a custom.

EDIT: Especially one that's based on a figure Sideshow's already announced is coming.

Not necessarily, depends on why they don't think Medi is worth it out of the box. If they felt Medi's prices on Clones seemed high for lack of weapons that should have been included and weathering, then a custom that is painted with great detail and properly armed, I think could sway them. Now if they just don't like Medicom Clones period, then yes, it won't help at all.

As to your other point, that's why I advised Josh to sell now if he ever plans to, once an actual Cody figure from the ground up is ready and unveiled from Sideshow and really public, it's going to be hard to sell a high priced custom. Right now, you might luck out that enough folks aren't aware of Sideshow's or have forgotten about it because it was only a hint and a Morrison headsculpt.

When's the last time you sold a Medi on ebaY?

Yes, I paid full price for ROTJ Vader, Maul and both Fetts, Maul I felt was overpriced, but he was around when their prices started to go up too.

All I'm saying is, just because a Medicom Clone can't sell well as is, doesn't mean a top notch custom based around one couldn't do fine.

Well then put your money where your mouth is. Guarantee Josh you'll pad any loss he takes since you're so adamant about referring him to ebaY. I know he'll take a HUGE loss on it. Hurricane customs ain't cheap.
