I finished season 6 tonight. This show man, total wish fulfilment - the correct move at every turn as far as I'm concerned. It never let me down. The last group of episodes had me either in tears like that Star Wars guy, you know the one, or absolutely grinning from ear to ear....well, also like that Star Wars guy I guess. I thought it ended perfectly. Bravo to all involved. :clap
The first 10 episodes were uneven so I was worried about how Season 6 would end.

But I felt they stuck the landing and was very satisfied with the last 5 episodes.

Over the last decade, my two favorite shows are probably Cobra Kai and Game of Thrones, and we all know how the latter ended. :banghead

My only disappointment was the one cameo we were hoping for (and I’m not talking about Homeless Lynn).

Japanese steel should always be displayed sharp edge upwards. :slap

It's traditional etiquette, and prevents the dulling of the blade.
For a katana yes. For a Tachi, No.

That blade in the back is a Tachi blade, I believe, a little hard to tell with the distance and the angle of the shot. Very similar to a katana, except it has a longer blade, longer tsuka, and more curved.

Fun fact for those who watched Highlander TV show. In season 1 the sword Duncan used was a Tachi. Chosen on purpose so it would be different from Connor's katana. They realized later that most people didn't care or even knew the difference, so it was switched to a katana.

That is how you end a series. Tied up all the storylines. Left you with a clear path of how the characters will continue. Gave the ending the fans wanted and expected without pandering to them. Well maybe a little pandering, but it wasn't overdone.

If it's a tachi, then they really did know their stuff! Hard to tell as, going by the Wiki page photos, they changed in design over the centuries, though the length of the tsuka does look long.

However, that's presumably a wakizashi displayed below it, edge down in error.

EDIT:

Just realised that the sword on the table is a tachi as the hangers are on the opposite side to the edge, for the sword to be worn blade down on horseback.

So they have one positioned correctly and the other incorrectly.

Yeah the wakizashi is totally wrong. If I was to guess it was done that for aesthetic purposes. Having one blade down and the other blade up looks a little off in a display IMO.

Not to derail to far but for someone who studied eastern martial arts, like Terry Silver presented himself as, I find it odd the set decorators included two claymores in his collection.

I’m happy that the show stuck it’s landing, that they put their characters through hell and back without forced agendas and that they gave them proper endings.

That being said i’ve never seen teenage karate be treated like the Superbowl and World Cup all rolled up into one championship lol
