Re: Collection Stash: Beta

I've added these.

Palpatine 1:1 Bust
Darth Maul 1:1 Bust
Yoda 1:1 Bust
Dr Doom PF
Green Goblin PF
Classic Iron Man Comiquette
Punisher Comiquette

When this goes live for everyone will all these be staying on the site or will they all have to be added again?

The current plan is everything you do now will stay when the site officially goes live, unless there is a major design problem I uncover but if that were the case I would figure out a way to automatically port things over.

The site looks AWESOME! I added a couple of things to my stash and added an exclusive of the Rocketeer to the collection.

I'll do more this weekend.

Just a reminder that if you want a t-shirt the money is due tomorrow so I can put the order in to the printer. :D

Thanks again guys for the feedback and compliments. I know there are a few more posts to respond to and I will hopefully get to that tonight.

Next on the agenda besides approvals is updating the Features/Accessories and adding Hot Toys as a manufacturer.

Depending on anymore defects that come up I need to fix, I have a few minor pieces of functionality I need to incorporate from a management perspective then I am going to begin road mapping new features and get some input from everyone.

I assume that eventually you plan to get all major companies on here. While you're adding Hot Toys do you think you could throw on Kotobukiya? Just the company so I can select them would be good enough, unless the system requires more.

As far as data input goes, can the DB import from an excel spreadsheet? Maybe it would be quicker if we were to put together a list in excel with our collections, email them to you, and you could import them. Of course they would need headers that would match your inputs. Or perhaps you setup the excel template, send it out, we add our stuff, then send it back. Or possibly better yet, assign each person a specific license, they input in excel, return to you, then give them a new license, and repeat. This way we're not just having to input one collectible at a time, wait for approval, then enter variant, wait for approval, add to stash. Then we can into more of the meat of the site once we have a good amount of collectibles on there.

Yea this is a good idea and I have it on my enhancement list but I am not sure when it will be implemented yet. It is going to depend on if I feel or as a majority people feel other enhancements will have more benefit.

With that being said, at some point in the next couple weeks I will be sending out an email to the current testers with a list of enhancements I have in mind and I will be looking for feedback into what you guys think would be cool or have more benefit and I will go from there (This is for major enhancements, not small things like adding new fields).

Added my first collectible to my stash! Sideshow Aayla Secura 12" fig! :yess:

Perhaps add a feature where users can share their own photos of their stash. Perhaps a subsection within my stash for photos.

Also when you go into a collectible have a list of users that own that collectible (if their privacy settings allow it) and which # they have (if they are numbered)

We must share the same brain. :)

For the second part, that is half way in there. It is called "Registry". The link is there but nothing is being displayed right now, I need to finish that piece to just render the list.

User photos is definitely coming up soon, I am holding off for now cause I want to evaluate the space it will take up but I think initially I will allow the user to upload their own photo to show in their stashes.

Re: Collection Stash: Beta

What are the chances of seeing Life-Size Bust collectible type so it matches Sideshow's product line? :D

Re: Collection Stash: Beta

Adam Hughes' Marvel ladies collection (7 regulars) submitted.

Love the site!

Ha, I was hoping you weren't going to press this topic yet.

From the beginning I was struggling with this. There are standard names for collectible types: action figures, statue, maquette, bust, diorama, mixed-media statue etc etc.

Then there are names that companies give them that mean the same thing but are specialized: premium format figure, legendary scale bust, Life-Size Bust.

I went back and forth on this, do I keep them specialized or do I make them more generic. That is why things are half and half. To me, a Life Size Bust should just be a Bust that is 1:1 scale and a Legendary Scale Bust should just be a bust that is 1:4 scale.

I decided for now to keep the specialized one but now I am thinking of ways that I can link specialized names to core types. Like Life-Size Bust and Legendary Scale Bust are all "Busts" in the end but for display purposes we have them available.

What I don't want in the end is a list of 20 different names for an action figure or a bust across companies but at the same time I might the site usable and I want people to recognize company collectible brands.

Any ideas are welcome!

Yeah, that's a tough call. Sideshow is pretty much the only company that makes 1:1 and 1:4 busts. There are a couple 1:4 busts from Hot Toys and GG is more like 1:6 scale (which they call Mini-Busts). You certainly can't have a collectible type for every company or you'd go insane with maintenance.

Yep! I will have to ponder this and like you said likely there are not a lot of companies yet that do busts and big statues yet that I/we have some time to come up with the naming. If I had my way it would be:

Bust
Statue
Maquette
Action Figure
Figure
etc
etc

Then under each, it would specify, mixed media, polystone, yadda yadda.

Hmm, I wonder if I make the collectible types more hierarchical based. I have my core types, then each manufacturer can have specialized names under each main type. So Sideshow would have under Statue: Premium Format, Comiquette, etc.

That would probably be ideal if it isn't too much trouble. I think Sideshow is going to be the only company that has such a diverse line of collectible types. Most will probably be fairly simple.

Coding wise, it shouldn't be too bad. It might make things a tad more complicated in the beginning but like you said there are not many cases with specialized collectible names.

Let me ponder this tonight.

Re: Collection Stash: Beta

What about something like this.

You select Manufacturer

Then you are on the Collectible Type page and it looks something like this:

Statue
-> Comiquette
-> Polystone Statue
-> Bronze Statue
Mixed Media Statue
-> Premium Format
Bust
-> Life Size Bust
-> Legendary Scale Bust
-> Polystone Bust

etc

This would give me the flexibility to keep the core maintenance easier but also maintain the fast searching by specific type. More than likely if you wanted to find all Premium Format, you would eventually have to search on Sideshow Collectibles first then Premium Format but then you could also search on Mixed Media Statue and find all of those types of collectibles across manufacturers.

We also have tags too, and there is one out there for premium format, so we can use tags for quick finding as well.

Re: Collection Stash: Beta

Here is my current list of main collectible types:

Figure
Diorama
Prop Replica
Mixed Media Statue
Bust
Maquette
Ornament
Statue
Accessory
Environment
Vinyl Collectible

Accessory and Environment might be specialized enough to go under Figure. I mean technically Maquette and Mixed Media Statue could be considered Statues but I am comfortable with expanding them out.

Action Figure or 12-inch Figure would go under figure where you could set the height and scale.

Then under each of these base collectible types I can specify manufacturer specific types, if they have any.

Re: Collection Stash: Beta

I've added these and i'll add the EX once you've approved them.

Robocop PF
T2 T-800 PF
Captain Jack Sparrow PF
Silver Surfer Comiquette
