Were you a fly on that wall Dave? :D

Nope, it's just that's the first thing I thought of when they announced the JP license. Although the one piece they did tied back to the film nicely. You don't need a license to make any old dinosaur.

I was never a dinosaur kid - although if they produce something along the lines of the JP diorama or Weta's t-rex vs. kong, it might be tempting.

Yea, I'm kinda disappointed as well. JP is an all time favorite movie of mine, and I wouldn't hestitate to buy any future products in the line.

I preordered the Trex vs Raptor dio on day 1!

And again I must ask, why? This is a most unexpected move on the part of SSC.

Well, from a business standpoint, could make sense. Regular edition of the JP dio is still available, like 8 months later. JP is a license and requires kickback to the license holder. If SSC took on JP wanting to make cool dinosaur pieces, but feels that the sales of such can't support a licensed line, then going off from a license and doing your own thing is a way to accomplish that.

Whatever it is, I want an explanation. Sideshow makes too many weird decisions without at least explaining them to the customer and it's becoming a little disconcerting.

I wonder if perhaps Stan Winston's passing has had an effect on how SWS deals with licensees. Universal has the rights I'm sure but I wonder if SWS is involved at all.

I'm more of a dinosaur enthusiast than a JP fan, so this could be good. I'd rather they make individual statues than dioramas, though.
