Colossus is instantly the best PF X-Man done so far. I don't even think its close personally. But I do recognize how great Gambit was done and I like the Wolverine, but just not that pansy blue and yellow. Brown and yellow Wolvie for me. If I had to rank them.
1)Colossus (I am biased as this is my third fav comic character)
2)Gambit
3)Storm
4)Cyclops
5)Wolverine (once the brown and yellow comes out it might take #1)
6)Psylocke (the paint problems on the leg killed this one)
7)Rogue (just an uninspiring pose and googly eye problems)
Here is the full review I did of Colossus on SF.
Just received this absolutely phenomenal statue today! PHENOMENAL!!!! Firstly, before I start the review and then pics, just letting everyone know this sucker is heavy and solid! Heavy and solid. He's just a little lighter than Skaar PF and about the same weight (maybe a little more) than the Thor PF! Also, this guy is HUUUUGGGEEE! Wait till you all see pics of him standing next to Ultron (see pics), and Ultron was 22". He dwarfs Skaar as well (see pics).
REVIEW
I may be a little bias because Colossus is my third favorite comic character. #1 is Thor. #2 is Superman and #3 is Colossus with #4 Shi'ar Gladiator (think purple Superman with mohawk),and #5 rounds out with Captain Marvel (Shazam).
Anyways, the Colossus comes with 2 heads and a print. Very clean and simple packaging. Unfortunately, my Colossus has a couple blemishes underneath the armpit (insconspicuous), a small paint blemish on the top of the right thigh just above the first line on his leg (I have removed it in photoshop, but it looks like a black mm pen dot), a black smudge on the back side of the upper right quad right below the first line (small and can't see it when looking at it straight on or even from the right side). Aside from these small blemishes, the paint job is really neatly done (see pics), and no googly eyes...lol. The rayon like material actually is the whole upper top and the shorts as well. Everything else is sculpted. Note--the mixed media is pulled extrememly tight, so if you are thinking about moving it aside to take pics of what he looks like underneath...DONT! YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO!!!!
The print is nothing special but for those of you that love prints, maybe you will be happy by it. Now, a big concern that I initially had from SS pics was that his hands were too small. WELL REJOICE because they are just fine. They are twice the size of Thor PF and Silver Surfer Comiquettes hands. If one wants to be picky, one can make the argument that they can still be made a little bigger. But I was utterly relieved to see they were much bigger than I anticipated.
The best part of this statue is no doubt the Classic Colossus costume and his size. Guys and gals, I can't stress this enough...HE IS BIG and HEAVY!! The sculpt itself is extremely well done. His arms, and especially his quads are phenomenal. His calves and feet are will proportioned and done excellently as well. Outside of my few blemishes, the paint job is neat and only when the camera is zoomed up on him with flash can you see any minute mishaps between the black lines that run throughtout his body. The heads (both) are great. The teeth on the Ex. head could be done a little better, but it's nowhere near Magneto or Sub-Mariner comiquettes. They are better done than the Skaar PF's teeth as well.
OPINION ABOUT THE CLOTH ON THE CHEST PART!!!!
Firstly, lets get this straight about the material used. IT IS NOT LIKE THE SABRETOOTH CLOTH! It is a rayon/jumpsuit pants type of material. Really smooth. Now, the material is excellent! Excellent. Some may not enjoy cloth on their statues and some feel it looks atrocious on Colossus. It does not.
: From a technical standpoint, its every bit as nice looking as the supes. IN fact, I am betting money that it is the same material used on the forthcoming Superman PF from SS. Its also pulled tight. I tried to move it to take pics of his abs and chest but no go. I am not taking any chances scraping the paint or ruining the material to take pics of some abs. I will agree, that if you prefer really detailed abs and musculature on the front part of his abs and chest, then the mixed material will not do it for you (knowing how whiney some of you are:bawling
. Just so you know, I just felt the chest and abs through the cloth and the chest doesn't have any bulge bulk. The abs you can tell were sculpted though. In any case, the material is a really nice to the touch material and does not feel cheap in any way! Excellent job.
Wow! I can't believe I own a SS Colossus PF classic costume statue! I just can't believe it! I have no plans on selling him, just like Thor PF unless a new and better pose is done. But even then I might still keep both. In closing, any fan of Colossus will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! NOT AT ALL! My total statue score is below!
Colossus
Sculpt = 9 There is no detail musculature sculpt in the chest area. The abs are sculpted, but are hidden beneath the material. Everything else is superflous.
Paint = 9 Great paint app. A little minute mishaps between the black lines but hardly noticeable to the naked eye.
Pose = 8 I prefer action poses over museum poses. And the pose is pretty simple, but it does fit fine with the other X-Men statues and that is what I think they were going for. His head position is a little too tilted downward and for best viewing, he needs to be a little higher than eye level.
Extras = 9 Anything extra besides a print will always get a high score from me. SS doesn't have to do anything extra if they don't want to, but they go out of the way to give the customers some customizability and that is much appreciated. The print is meh at best.
Likeness = 10 Classic Colossus perfection! DA!
Packaging = 10 Perfect in every way!
Overall = 9 Strong statue and a great Colossus rendition. Will a fully sculpted Colossus in classic garb ever get made...MAYBE...but if this was the only one to ever get made, it is damn near perfection!
