I like the SS/Weta Frodo alot myself. I'll be holding on to mine....may get P.F. if/when they do one.

Boy, this really is becoming the subject of some hot debate these days.

First, let me say that if the next piece is Boromir (which would be great IMO), I think it should have the pose of him from the snow scene, just after he picks up the Ring and is gazing at it - "It is a strange fate we should suffer so much fear and doubt over so small a thing." That would be both iconic AND scene related. :joy

And second, about the likeness issue, I can certainly understand someone wanting these pieces to look exactly like the actors who portrayed them in the films, and it is a shame that so many are disappointed by what they perceive as shoddy likenesses. However, in some posts I sense almost a refusal by some to accept the fact that many people don't share that same opinion, but are more concerned about the character than the actor. In the case of the SSW Frodo statue, I was thrilled with it from the moment I first received it, because the pose and the expression captured my image of Frodo so well that I simply didn't care whether it looked like Elijah or not. And, as a matter of fact, of the many people who have come to my house and viewed my collection, not a single person has said, "oh, that looks nothing like Elijah Wood", or "which character is that? I don't recognize him!" Everyone has recognized him as Frodo.

That would make for an interesting pose for him now wouldn't it? I would actually like that pose from Boromir.

I'm with ya Robo. I would like it if they looked exactly like the actor but it's just not the end all be all for me as you said it appears to be for many. Yup, in many posts it does come across that many refuse to believe that some don't get all up in arms about the likeness issue. Which inturn does get me at least up in arms a little. :p :D I think the Frodo statue does look like EW maybe not 110% but I do think it does for the most part, and like you when people do see my collection they don't go hey that's EW they go it's Frodo.

Nice one RoboDad !!:banana :joy :banana Excellent choice as the ring plays such a huge part of Boromir's story.

How about another suggestion.
What about a majestic pose of Boromir sounding the Horn of Gondor at Parth Galen?.

" Even as he gazed his quick ears caught sounds in the woodlands below, on the west side of the river. He stiffened.. There were cries, and among them, to his horror, he could distinguish the harsh voices of Orcs. Then suddenly with a deep-throated call a great horn blew, and the blasts of it smote the hills and echoed in the hollows, rising a mighty shout above the roaring of the falls."

I like that one as well. What exact pose would you go with though? Is he raising the horn? Or is he actually blowing it? If he is actually blowing it that could make for a hard facial likeness and just a plain odd look I would think.

He would probably have to be raising the horn instead of blowing it jlcmsu. Because as you have said, it would be hard to get a really good facial likeness especially with the puffed out cheeks.
Shame really as i think it would be a far better and superior pose for him and could of been very dramatic.

Meh...I dont see the point in a companion statue to Lurtz. I'd rather have King Theoden instead
Although I'd be willing to settle for an Elendil :D

I think the companion statue should be Tom Bombadil. Singing and dancing all around Lurtz. "Oh nasty uruk man, you should not be stalking....." and the like.

Got ya. Yeah, it would be far more dramatic if he was blowing the horn but I think that would just be too hard to nail.

Damn!!.. Guess us Sideshowfreaks are a hard bunch to please eh !!:duh
It seems that the poses that we would like to see most or sculpts of characters from certain parts of the films that we would like to see always seem to be the hardest ones to try and achieve.
Nothing simple for us !!:D

That... would... be... AWESOME! :joy

Personally, I could care less about "companion" pieces. Whatever piece you decide to make Sideshow, just make it cool. :rock Speaking of cool, wouldn't a metal armored Helms Deep Uruk-hai be an awesome companion to Lurtz. :p :D
