When the Hobbit is released I'm sure interest in all things Lord of the Rings will be renewed, and your 1/6 figures might be worth something.

Might be worth something?:confused:As in $? If so who cares? They're worth something to me now! These movies/characters mean a lot to me and so do the figures, Even if no more LOTR figures are made these will always be special to me and hold a place in my collection. Yes it sucks the line is done, i myself have moved on, i got the figures that i want and that is that. (never cared if the whole FS was made) I guess i don't understand some members here that somehow think the figures they own now from this line are somehow not worthy cause the line is over. (unless you wanted the FS, i myself would've prefered Bilbo or Saurman) No company ever really finishes a line, yes IMO it ended too soon as well, but i want everyone to know that you should still be enjoying your figures, you should still be doing new poses and such, posting pics etc. And if there is a figure from the line that you've wanted but have not gotten around to buying yet maybe you should consider it. Life is too short to carry on like this over a toy line folks, these figures are great and enjoy them everyday!

And i would bet good money that when the Hobbit comes rollin around two summers from now we WILL see figures from someone!!

I mean monetary value, yes. But I agree. The figures are worth a lot to me as well, but that last point was a stab at folks who might have collected these figures for the sake of turning profit later down the road.

yup. these figures are priceless to me. even if the line is incomplete. i'm just glad for what i got and the detailed accessories. i love boromir's horn and shield. and of course i love sam's pack.

I've always said it and I'll say it again. When these figures become rare and highly sought after, which I'm confident they will be some day, Sam, Boromir and Gandalf will be the Rhah, King, Lerner and O'Neil of this line. Arguably, they've got the best head sculpts, slickest outfits and coolest accessories of the bunch IMO.

The 2 hobbits were both cute and well made figures.Where the ^^^^ were the collectors when it was time to buy those....

LOTR fans = :duh...................

Why do you think so?

It's a popular franchise. While right now it isn't as popular as say Star Trek, Iron Man or Terminator, I think once the Hobbit is released and Tolkien fever is back in full swing a whole new generation of folks will be seeking out collectibles, and these will resurface. I honestly believe that those who aren't currently aware of their existence will be hunting down these figures, while those who never bought into the line or bailed out will realize how quality these figures really are, and hence will become highly sought after. It is often said that this is the best line of movie figures Sideshow has ever produced. There's no doubt that these are high quality figures with great attention to detail applied to each one. It begs the question how can these be regarded as the best of Sideshow and not gain in value in years to come? I think future collectors will be more interested in these than current collectors are. In addition, the economy will eventually make a full recovery and people will want to spend money again. This is all speculation of course, but I guess only time will tell.

I agree. Except i think LOTR is more popular than a few of those licenses, just that maybe the fans don't buy collectibles as much :)

It would be funny for instance if the Hobbits became highly sought after (i'm already seeing frodo going for over retail on ebay for the ex.) Still baffles me how they didn't sell right away, but sometimes these things get wild later on you could be right.

I know for myself, the LOTR stuff is the last to go just because I like the movies so much. I think over the long haul, marvel holds up the best given the legion of fans that have a habit of collecting. Everything else is probably a fad and flash in the pan. Sideshow will always have military lines. Terminator license never seems to die. The star wars stuff is kinda losing its steam. Anyway, hold on to those 12" figures, I doubt if any other company will make them better unless hot toys venture in, but I doubt if they will.

I think it's more popular then all that stuff except maybe Star Trek.

In terms of historic fan base, yes. In terms of modern day fan boy collectors I'd disagree, especially when you consider the overall demographic of who you're dealing with, which is the post-Xbox / Playstation generation. LOTR does have a broad appeal that spans several generations, but when you consider modern day collectors, I think most people are interested in what's hot right now rather than what's been around for a while. LOTR did not regain mass popularity until the films were released, and though it ushered in a new era of fans, most folks today have short attention spans and move on the next big thing when they get bored. The only hope for renewed interest in LOTR figures is the release of The Hobbit films. But there is definitely truth in your statement.

I don't know why everyone is so obessed with the fellowship, sure it would of been nice but I can think of many characters I'd want before Merry and Pippin and my DID Gimli is just fine. I personally would of killed for some baddies, or even some female characters. Would of bought Theoden and Emoer as well.

Don't give a crap about the Hobbit.. because it's not like they would finish all those either! :(

All SS had to do is 3 more freaking figs... then we could have had the Fellowship!!!

Agreed. "The Hobbit" film(s) are irrelevant to the LOTR line.

Planning done for the LOTR line characters was questionable.

-Ringwraiths would have been the "Stormtroopers" of the LOTR line. Multiple purchases would have been guaranteed.

-Pip and Merry were no-brainers with the new Hobbit bodies already developed.

-Gimli would have simply used a modified Hobbit body for slight height addition.

-Saruman would have been a simple figure to develop. Rather uncomplicated outfit and no armor, weapons, accessories needed, except for perhaps a Palantir and base, which could have been sold either separately as a dio or included as the exclusive piece (similar to Indy's Idol pedestal.)

Anything else would have been gravy.

Agreed on most points, but think the merry/pippin figs would have been line killers anyways (only completists would have bought them).

I think the ringwraiths would have sold like hotcakes (prob should have done those first).

I do think LOTR fans are so diversive that a good bit of them enjoy the movies/books but dont have the need to get the collectibles like other fandoms do...
