Shameless plug. Here's my review I did about a month ago on their version 1. Cool figure, very cheap at less than $40. Joints were very loose, so this new model looks great. Overall, the original was pretty good for a figure I bought with the intention of taking apart to be used as diorama pieces for Ichabod Crane.

Personally I think it's a terrible sculpt. It's not stylized enough to be a Harryhausen skull (the only one worth imitating that might be stylized) and it's very unrealistic. So it's just a very amateurish looking sculpt. To me it honesty looks like a kid did it. I've heard several other people express this too since it was first released. Not sure why they don't update it with a decent one. I'd love to get a few but until they improve the sculpt I'll pass.

There are some stylistic freedoms taken on it, but if you do a quick check on human skulls (in general) for reference, it's nowhere near bad enough that I'd ever use the word "terrible" - I mean, most companies don't come half as close to their human likenesses.

Well it looks like it's from a Scooby Doo cartoon, that's all I'm saying. Considering the quality of most sculpts these days this just doesn't cut it.

In photos or in person? I'm only looking at photos and I still don't know what you're talking about. If it looks drastically different in hand, then yeah, that's a shame.

i remember in high school i tried to recreate this

with a flimsy 12" skeletal figure and goat's skull from biology class.
maybe i'll revisit this project using the v1 when the upgrade is out.

yeah, scouting for goat skull in the city could be challenging.
back then it was easy, as my aunt used to butcher and cook goat for dinner.
all i had to do was clean and prep the skull myself. but the skeletal system figure was too flimsy.lolz

i still prefer scavenging toybiz nazgul/witchking for the wardrobe. on dragon/bbi body and those red horse skulls. but i need those scythe accessories.
