Okay, I admit I am being sarcastic with the title. Uwe not winning any awards any time soon. However, I watched Postal earlier in the week (German with English subtitles) and the film was rather funny. Offensive? Sure, but so was the original video game. Point being, it was miles ahead of crap like Alone in the Dark and House of the Rave ... um, I mean Dead. I also have seen about 5 minutes of In the Name of the King. Once again, it won't be challenging LOTR or other fantasy any time soon. However, it was entertaining. I would rate it like a good Made for TV movie. Hell, I may go see it in the theater just to see Pearlman and Statham banter with each other. But, point being, could Uwe be improving? My feet are cold, but I figured that was winter, not Hell freezing over, but who knows?
P.S. I also pondered something while watching Postal. The dialogue was German ... well, because Uwe is German and the films are made for and released on the German market first. I never found the plots in Boll's films that bad, it was the acting that was horrible (Micheal Madsen as Vladimir in BloodRayne seemed to be playing the same character he played in Reservoir Dogs ... sigh). But, the German dubbing for Postal was very well delivered and emotional. Now, I don't know German, so I was going off more tone and delivery. But, it seemed well acted. So, could that be why his American actors seem so horrid in his films? Maybe he could care less about the American cuts since he brings in German Actors to dub the films in his own country. Are his films as reviled in Germany as they are here? All of it makes for an interesting discussion ... which will probably turn to a bashing session by the 3rd post ...
